CNN will trust Jake Tapper and Dana Bash with moderating the first presidential debate of the 2024 election cycle.
President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump, the presumptive nominees for each of their respective parties, both agreed to two debates — one hosted by CNN on June 27 and another hosted by ABC News in September — earlier on Wednesday.
“CNN Anchors @JakeTapper and @DanaBashCNN will moderate CNN’s Presidential Debate between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump on June 27 from Atlanta, Georgia. The debate will air live at 9pET on @CNN channels, CNN.com and on CNN Max,” read a statement posted online by CNN.
ABC News has not yet said who it will task with moderating the second scheduled debate on September 10.
Meanwhile, Trump has agreed to a third debate in October that he said would be hosted by Fox News’ Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum, but Biden’s team has already indicated that he will not agree to such a forum.

History repeats...
Republican candidates: I’ll debate my Democrat opponent anywhere and at anytime.
Democrat candidates: OK but it has to be on a Democrat friendly news outlet and moderated by Democrat activists. All topics and questions will be from a left-wing point of view.
Republican candidates: Agreed.
Left-wing voters: Sounds fair to me.
Right-wing voters: WTF
Does anyone seriously believe Biden won’t have the questions in advance?
One website said Fox proposed a 3rd debate with Martha Mcallum and Brett Baier but Biden said no. I don’t trust those 2 anyway.
if Trump’s campaign managers let him appear at a CNN hosted event, they’re crazy!!!!!
But he won’t have a teleprompter to help him remember the answers. Also, Trump needs to throw him curve balls so that even he memorized all his answers, he’ll have to respond in real time.
Unless he has written answers in hand, it won’t help.
The only good that can come of a debate is for Biden to babble incoherently on national TV. That’s to be hoped for, but hope is not a plan. Last time, Trump stood there and took too much BS. Biden called him a clown and a racist, and Chris Wallace did nothing about patently personal attacks. The very idea of having it at CNN is nuts.
I’m guessing that he wants to show he can prevail despite a hostile forum. He had better be prepared to deflect a lot of nastiness and snideness.
Biden will definitely get a Gaza question. That might even be first question.
Moderator #1 - Somebody That Hates Trump
Moderator #2 - Somebody Else That Hates Trump
Nailed it. Stop Trump from shaking Biden up.
“CNN’s cameras will shift away from dozing Biden while Trump continuously debates Tapper and Dana Bush.”
Exactly right. Trump will be debating Tapper and Dana Bush more than Biden.
And the Biden campaign seized on that, obviously.
He should have included a FEW preconditions IMO.
So Trump is going on enemy territory and Biden won’t even go on Trump hating Fox News?
And Trump will play that to his advantage. Especially if they give softball questions and accommodations to Biden.
Tapper and Bash will be doing the debating. 😆
THIS IS A SLAP IN THE FACE TO AMERICAN VOTERS
Many of us do NOT have PAY T V-—I have not done so for over 31 years.
MANY more HAVE “CUT THE CORD” in recent years due to higher costs for everything.
SOOOOOOOOOO-— IF ONLY CNN can show the “DEBATE” A SMALLER AUDIENCE will be the result.
ALL OF US DESERVE TO SEE THE DEBATE & SEE WHAT HAPPENS.
THIS IS JUST PLAIN WRONG.
What % of the AMERICAN families still have PAY TV????
I don’t have TV cable service but have NEVER had problem watching any debate. They always have an accessible link.
