Earth could suffer the worst solar storm in 165 years as six streams of plasma that erupted from the sun this week are set to make crash into our atmosphere tonight.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) revealed Friday that the worst-case scenario would be what happened during the 1859 Carrington event, which set telegraph stations on fire, cutting communications worldwide.

In our modern-day society a geomagnetic storm - a major disturbance of Earth's magnetosphere- of that magnitude would cause widespread electrical disruptions, blackouts and damage to critical infrastructure.

During the Carrington Event, telegraphers were getting shocked and even though they turned the machines off the solar energy was still giving them power.

Maybe the government can harvest all that energy and store it in giant batteries. A couple trillion dollars investment of our tax dollars might do it, and silly Joe would go for the idea.

Maybe the scientists will be wrong, and the solar storm will be 100 times stronger than they are predicting, causing massive amounts of destruction on Earth. Starting with DC.

I’m not going to worry about it. NOAA is wrong about the weather forecast here in central Kansas 9 times out of 10. I read their forecast notes every morning, their deterministic models.
