Trump is leading Indiana Republicans to a dangerous place
Indianapolis Star ^ | 5/8/24 | James Briggs

Six years after Mike Braun came out on top in Indiana's first Trumpian Idol contest and won election to the U.S. Senate, he has coasted to the Republican nomination for governor.

It shouldn't have been quite so easy. On paper, Braun faced one of the most competitive statewide fields in Indiana history. At least three Republican contenders — Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch, Brad Chambers and Eric Doden — had plausible cases to make for being stronger candidates than Braun.

Braun is an uninspiring U.S. senator who ran an uninspiring gubernatorial campaign. That turned out to be good enough because Braun had what he needed: name identification and former president Donald Trump's endorsement. That's probably going to be good enough for him to win in November, too.

Braun's competitors, meanwhile, never distinguished themselves to a Republican electorate beholden to Trump. They ran vaguely hybrid campaigns anchored to time-tested establishment Republican values while sort of appealing to Trump fans, or at least trying not offending them, but never really making headway.

Funny isn’t it, that Lefty media types are often eager to offer their sage advice to conservatives and Republicans.

“I live in Indiana,...”

Vote as is best for your state. Trump’s opinion means nothing more than any other opinion in that regard.

Also a Hoosier....I’ve had an opportunity to meet Braun and got to ask a few questions . I feel he’s the best choice amongst the candidates available. Pro life, pro 2nd, and intimated that states may become more important than the fedgov and that was one reason he wanted to be governor

I guess we could note that Braun kept to his promise of limiting himself to two terms in the Senate. That counts for something.

Todd Young is a GOPe dirtbag and a darling of the McCain RINO wing of the Uniparty.

GOP in Indiana needs a good gutting and expulsion of the RINO hierarchy.

The Indy Star used to be owned for many years by the Quayle family I believe through his wife.

At the banner on the paper there was a quote that said, “Where the spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”

My how that paper has fallen after it sold to the USA Today Gannett bunch.

James Briggs: I never voted for anyone to the right of Karl Marx, but I care about Indiana’s Republican Party. If you believe that I’ll sell you a bridge in Indiana.

You want the real story out of Indiana that the press will ignore?

Joe Biden just won the democrat primary there by the fewest votes of any democrat since at least 1992!!! Probably less than well before that.. Biden only Manages to get 46% of the votes he got there in 2020!!!!

Far fewer votes than any democrat candidate has won the state by in a long polling time!

2016,2012,2008, 2004,2000, 1996 and 1992 democrats
Candidate winners all got more, votes, significantly more votes than Biden got this week.. and I bet the trend goes back even further, but I have yet to be ape to find the vote total results for any contests prior to 1992.

Biden just laid a huge huge egg in Indiana folks, and the MSM won’t even say a word about it, if they even noticed at all.

Reddit has a ton of liberals who would gladly eliminate us from society if they could get away with it. The spirit of the KGB/Gestapo lives freely within them.

The Indianapolis Star does not even qualify for use as a fish wrapper.

Or as TOILET PAPER either!
