National Security Council chief Tzachi Hanegbi spoke about a military operation in Rafah, stressing that, "the decision has been made - the question is not if, but when."
Speaking to Israel's "Meet the Press" program, Hanegbi said, "Sinwar is living on borrowed time."
"He escaped from one burrow to the next, we were very close to him. There are those who would say that we were incredibly close, at one point. Maybe even less than a few days."
Comparing Sinwar to Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, who was eliminated by US forces in 2011, Hanegbi promised that Sinwar "won't come out alive," but added that "patience is necessary."
"When we say that we are 'a step away from complete victory,' we need to understand what that means," Hanegbi said. "These are three ambitious goals, but we will achieve them. The first goal is to create the conditions to return the hostages. Over half of them have already returned, and we are fighting and praying for the lives of every single one of those who remain - and hope that the deal will save lives. We will achieve the second goal, of destroying Hamas' governing and military abilities. The third goal, which is of utmost importance, is to ensure that Gaza will never present a threat such as this, of massacring Israelis."

I don’t think it’s wise to discuss a close miss in public. It might just make the target more cautious and harder to get to next time. The Israelis are usually more tight lipped and wisely so. Nothing should be disclosed unless it presents a calculated advantage. Then again, who knows that it doesn’t? I would never underestimate the Israeli intelligence service.
The probative value is the same as it was with Eichmann. Put ALL of the evidence in front of the world. MSM won’t do it unless it was a “trial of the Century” type stuff. Then hang him.
No time right now. Catch him, get him to sing, use the info he provides in the field, let it be known that he’s the source to discredit him. If you want an Eichmann-style trial, keep him on the QT somewhere secure until the intel he provides is fully utilized, and then years later have your trial. Eichmann was finally tried in 1961 for what he was doing 20 years prior. Of course, he was in the wind after the fall of Berlin, but if they had caught him right during the war, his relevance to the war effort would have taken priority.
I kind of like that scenario. You could trot him out whenever you wanted to remind folks what animals they are...
