NEW YORK — The judge presiding over Donald Trump’s hush money trial has fined him $1,000 for violating his gag order and sternly warned the former president that additional violation could result in jail time.

The fine marks the second sanction for Trump for inflammatory comments about witnesses since the start of the trial last month. He was fined $9,000 last week for nine violations.

Judge Juan M. Merchan warned Monday that additional gag order violations could potentially result in jail time, though he said that was “the last thing I want to do.”

Prosecutors in Trump’s hush money trial are moving deeper into his orbit following an inside-the-room account about the former president’s reaction to a politically damaging recording that surfaced in the final weeks of the 2016 campaign.

Frome the article - Trump, 77, Monday was dinged for violating the order for the 10th time in an April 22 interview on Real America’s Voice saying “That jury was picked so fast – 95% Democrat.”

Totally ridiculous that he was fined for this innocuous statement.

It’s spite.. Vindictive spite.. They hate him so they dig.. Rude.. Embarrass.. Use their judgeship to try to take him down..
Adding... God is watching.. Taking notes.. The man is trying to save our nation..he doesn’t have to do this.. And he’s been hit from all directions.
God said, “Revenge is mine.”. You watch.. They think they have the power to do this.. Measured earthly power..

Just for funzies if I were Trump I would have told the judge one last parting statement “Everyone knows this is a sham, you are just doing this because EVERYONE knows I am going to beat Joe Biden’s old decrepit ass in November, so judge, go F yourself, hope it hurts”

Julian Assange was indicted by the Trump Administration (DOJ)for exercising his inalienable right to speak freely about a corrupt system. Now, Trump is facing incarceration by a corrupt system for exercising the very same right.

Trump was probably wrong about the jury. It's probably 100% Democrat. This is Manhattan, after all.

Merchan expects to be a hero to the Democrats if he jails Trump or if he gets the jury to find Trump guilty of a felony. Maybe he's hoping to parley that into getting the Hispanic seat on the Supreme Court once the Wise Latina retires.

All he wants is the historical reference to convicting Trump. Doesn’t matter if overturned later.

These pols only care about self .

If he convicts Trump then Clinton is next as he paid Paula Jones. “ hush money”

I don’t think Clinton’s payment to Paula Jones was hush money. Anyway it would be past the statute of limitations (which anyone not named Trump can benefit from).

Clinton is next as he paid Paula Jones. “ hush money”

The money that Paula Jones received was by way of an insurance policy that Clinton had. It wasn’t hush money but rather settlement money arising out of the allegations that Paula made about Clinton

Published March 30, 2024, 12:37 p.m. ET
Two major Democratic clients of the daughter of the judge overseeing Donald Trump’s hush-money trial have raised at least $93 million in campaign donations — and used the case in their solicitation emails — raising renewed concerns that the jurist has a major conflict of interest.
Trump’s attorneys are considering filing another motion demanding Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan recuse himself from the trial set to begin April 15, sources said.
The judge’s daughter, Loren Merchan, is president of Authentic Campaigns, a Chicago-based progressive political consulting firm whose top clients include Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), who was the lead prosecutor in Trump’s first impeachment trial, and the Senate Majority PAC, a major party fundraiser.
“Authentic Campaigns, and thus the judge’s daughter, is actively making money from this sham attack against President Trump, rendering Judge Merchan conflicted out,” Trump spokesman Steven Cheung told The Post, adding that evidence of bias is even clearer now than it was in August when Merchan rejected Trump’s first recusal motion.

But making inflammatory statements about Mr. Trump is perfectly fine, in Judge Merchandise land ...

I don't understand. Stormy Daniels voluntarily entered into a gag order...and was paid for it! ...And violated it anyway!

So true. There’s hate for Trump within his own party as he threatens the “ gravy train” of benefiting off bills they pass by awarding them to kickback friends
