Delivering a ‘True Promise’: an insider account of Iran’s strikes on Israel
The Cradle ^ | 5/3/24 | The Cradle

Following the strategic success of Iran’s ‘True Promise’ retaliatory drone and missile operation in response to last month’s Israeli bombing of the Iranian consulate in Damascus, The Cradle presents an exclusive insider‘s narrative provided by Iranian Member of Parliament Mahmoud Nabavian, a principalist who won the most votes in Tehran during the country’s March elections.

His account of the retaliatory strikes against the occupation state offers unparalleled insights into the 13–14 April events. With access to military sources, Nabavian’s testimony serves as the most detailed view to date by an Iranian government official on Iran’s response, one that has sorely exposed the vulnerabilities of Israel’s air defense systems.

“The decision was to strike two military targets: the first was the [Nevatim] airport from which the F-35 plane that bombed the Iranian consulate took off, and the second was an Israeli intelligence center in the Golan. By coincidence, the fighter jet that targeted the consulate fired its missiles from above this intelligence headquarters.”

Both targets were hit repeatedly. The lesser drones and missiles shot down in the U.S./Israeli multibillion dollar turkey shoot were pawns meant to be shot done. The Israelis and the U.S. acknowledged the Iranian capabilities with the four chintzy quad copter retaliation.

“Virtually everything fired at Israel was intercepted before entering the country’s territory, according to the Israel Defense Forces, which reported “very little damage” from the attack.

...

A 7-year-old girl who was severely injured by shrapnel was the only known casualty in the attack. The child, from a Bedouin village in Israel’s southern Negev desert, was still fighting for her life on Monday.

...

The IDF said none of the 170 drones launched by Iran crossed into Israeli territory, nor did any of the more than 30 cruise missiles fired by the Islamic republic.

Of 120 ballistic missiles fired at Israel from Iran, the U.S. officials told CBS News only five got through Israeli and U.S. air defenses and hit Israeli territory. One U.S. official told CBS News that roughly half of the ballistic missiles failed on launch or crashed in flight.

...

One of the missiles hit near the base’s runway, while two landed in open areas and “one more hit near a building, causing minor damage,” IDF spokesperson Daniel Hagari said on Monday, adding that the building was still under construction.

“All this damage will be repaired in the coming days,” Hagari said. “This base is operating around the clock, it functioned during Operation ‘Iron Shield’ and today as well, from this base, aircraft took off to protect the skies of the State of Israel.”

Interesting article. Thanks

So, Iran claims 15 of the 17 missiles they launched hit their target? All the drones and rockets were fired to distract and overwhelmthe air defense systems. I wonder how true their account is?

I took a look at the article’s source, ‘The Cradle’. I had never heard of it before.

It is a 100% pro-Iran propaganda site. No balance at all. Nothing particularly wrong or shocking about that, as most of what we’re told today is propaganda of one sort or another.

But folks should know exactly what they’re reading.

“A small number of Israeli aircraft flew from Israel over Syria — striking at least two southern Syria military bases that have air defense systems along the way, he said.

They then entered Iraqi airspace, from where they fired a small number of Blue Sparrow air-to-surface ballistic missiles, likely without ever entering Iranian airspace, Lister said.

Accounts of explosions over Iraq support that scenario, and so does debris from what appears to be the booster of an Israeli-made Blue Sparrow missile that Iraqi security found in a field outside Baghdad, Lister said.

“In other words, the Israelis would never have needed to enter Iranian airspace to conduct this attack,” Lister said. “I think this was Israel’s way of just sending a message that we can reach you anywhere we want.”

“JERUSALEM (AP) — Satellite photos taken Monday suggest an apparent Israeli retaliatory strike targeting Iran’s central city of Isfahan hit a radar system for a Russian-made air defense battery, contradicting repeated denials by officials in Tehran of any damage in the assault.

The strike on an S-300 radar in what appears to have been a very limited strike by the Israelis would represent far more damage done than in the massive drone-and-missile attack Iran unleashed against Israel on April 13. That may be why Iranian officials up to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei have been trying to dismiss discussing what the attack actually did on Iranian soil.”

So, you’ll just stick to your “vetted” US gubmint sources at CNN and Fox for an Iranian account of what happened. That’s Rich! What the heck are you looking up from the Western media masters’ feeding trough for anyway? I certainly hope you didn’t read any of this non approved article. Aren’t you afraid your eyes might fall out?

Yep, that “Iron Dome” didn’t really touch any of the missile attack meant to hit actual targets. You want to talk about an even more massive U.S./Israeli fail, wait until the Iranians break out their hypersonic missiles.

“So, you’ll just stick to your “vetted” US gubmint sources at CNN”

You assume things you have no evidence for.

Just as you’ll take the words of sources who you cannot verify, just because they fit your own preconceived bias.

“Iran’s unprecedented attack on Israel over the weekend was likely one of the largest — if not the largest — combined drone-missile barrages ever launched.”

“A coalition of Israeli, U.S., British, French, Jordanian and Saudi forces intercepted 99% of the launched munitions, many of which were destroyed outside of Israeli airspace, according to the Israel Defense Forces.”

“Around 30 cruise missiles and 120 ballistic missiles were also launched. All of the cruise missiles were destroyed before reaching Israel, while a few ballistic missiles crossed into the country, according to the IDF.”

https://www.axios.com/2024/04/16/iran-israel-attack-how-missiles-drones

“but while Tehran will have learned about Israel’s air defences, the apparently low impact rate, particularly from the missiles, is likely to be a disappointment.”

“Look at the size and scale of this latest attack – this was not a salutary move. It was designed to inflict real damage, but the fact that it didn’t is damaging to Iran’s credibility,” said Sidharth Kaushal of the Royal United Services Institute thinktank.

The most serious threat came from high-speed ballistic missiles, capable of flying several times the speed of sound and making the journey from Iran to Israel (about 600 miles at the closest points) in less than 15 minutes. More than 120 were launched at Israel, Hagari said, and he acknowledged that “a few” crossed into Israel’s airspace, some striking at the Nevatim airbase. (Reminder: Causing essentially no damage, except for the unfortunate muslim girl severely wounded, see above.)
