LONG BEACH, Calif. (CNS) -- A tuberculosis outbreak among residents of a single-room occupancy hotel in Long Beach has left one person dead and led to the hospitalizations of nine others, prompting the declaration of a public health emergency, city officials said Thursday.
The city Department of Health and Human Services insists the risk of exposure to the general public is low, with the outbreak restricted to a "distinct population" of people with "significant barriers to care, including homelessness and housing insecurity, mental illness, substance abuse and serious medical comorbidities."
As of April 29, a total of 14 cases have been associated with the outbreak. The city declined to release the name of the hotel at the center of the outbreak, citing patient privacy concerns.

Gee, how did this happen?.......................🙄
Gee! Wonder how that got started. Be sure to look in the leper ward.
When bad things happen to CA, of their own making, I get a dose of schadenfreude. That is, until I realize, what happens in CA makes it’s way across the nation.
I wonder what in the world could be causing these outbreaks of diseases...
When you import the Third World, you get Third World diseases.
Bttt
I don’t understand.
If these are all single occupancy rooms, how did the infected get into contact with eachother?
It’s a mystery I tell ya!
Or 9-12 illegals per room. Maybe a little bit of a fire harzard [or communicable disease], but nice bank for the owner. /s
With this government sponsored endless chain immigration and illegal invasion of million, this will get much worse.
Bet the rent.
I grew up in L.B. back in the 50s and 60s. I guess it’s changed. The signs at the elementary school I attended are in Spanish now.
This particular situation is probably rooted at the federal level.
Or info on which form of TB...
illegals bring in tb
1 dead, 14 cases, possibly 170 exposed.
And still nothing on which form of TB.
I worked in a prison and we were getting TB cases spread by the increase in illegals in custody. We had a small clinic with 8 individual rooms. We spent 1 million on three rooms to install vent systems in which fresh air came out and the stale air was pumped to the outside above the roof. And every staff remember had to be tested periodically.
Oh boy...Not good.
The city of Long Beach, Calif., has declared a public health emergency following a tuberculosis outbreak that’s been traced to a hotel in the area that may have exposed up to 170 people to the disease.
Fourteen cases of tuberculosis have been associated with a single-room occupancy hotel in the city, which officials declined to name...
Nine people have been hospitalized, and one person has died, the office noted.
“The outbreak is currently isolated to a distinct population and the risk to the general public is low,” their statement continued. “The population at risk in this outbreak has significant barriers to care including homelessness and housing insecurity, mental illness, substance use and serious medical comorbidities.”
They’re refusing to name the Hotel in Long Beach!
The locals are being really tight-fisted with info, especially on the patient who died.
Really, really not good.
And no info on which form of TB...
Not very informative, is it...
