Kristi Noem, the governor of South Dakota whose chance of being Donald Trump’s presidential running mate was widely deemed over after she published a description of shooting dead a dog and a goat, claimed reports of the story were “fake news” but also that the dog in question, Cricket, a 14-month-old wirehaired pointer, was “extremely dangerous” and deserved her fate.
“You know how the fake news works,” Noem told Fox News. “They leave out some or most of the facts of a story, they put the worst spin on it. And that’s what’s happened in this case.

Smh
The easiest thing to do in this life is to be careless and callous.
I wouldn’t trust this woman, full stop.
Term limits for South Dakota governor… she can’t run again.
I place my golden retriever’s life above libtards and any Chinese sympathizers.

Me too. I had to shoot a dog that was leading a pack about 40 years ago. The pack had already ripped an ear off of one of our calves, the tail off of another, and was after a third one. After I got the leader, the rest never came back.
I told my husband that I would never do it again and if a dog needed shooting, he could do it. That has haunted me for 40 years. I like dogs a lot more than I do cows but if you let them keep doing it, the next time it might be a kid. I won’t be the one doing it though. If it had been one of my dogs, I would have taken it to the Vet for the shot. My dogs have all been well trained and are not aggressive except to squirrels and rabbits. They’ll shake the stuffings out of those in a heartbeat.
My wife is a Democrat who voted for Trump and Noem is the “Excrement List” right now for VP.
The headline is deceptive. She didn't say it was "fake news" that she shot her dog and a goat--she fully admits to it. She was referring to the fake news media that will twist and manipulate a story to make a person they don't like look as bad as possible.
Human life less valuable than animal life for many people.
I heard her explanation on Hannity last night and it all makes sense.
Once a dog kills a chicken or bites a person, it is dangerous and needs to be put down. Her method is irrelevant. It was as humane as a killing can be.
But I don’t understand the story of her goat.
PS Listening to Hannity was not my choice, it was because of an accidental association.
No.
You’re wrong.
^^^ This. ^^^
Also this:
I think she purposely came out with this story to show how she’s a tough practical woman strong enough to be VP and lead the nation should it come to that. Obviously that plan backfired.
Yup!
I checked.
California.
If she knows that's how the media operates, then why did she write about this incident in her book? Why give them a gift like this?
Her problem is that she didn’t have the sense to not write about it.....even if it had been a pit bull, she still would have an outcry, albeit less. She should have said nothing.
Nope.
Older than 12 months, no longer a puppy
Sorry if you’re triggered.
Okay
The point in her book has to do with making tough choices.
She made a tough choice.
A lot of people would wimp out leading to the possibility of someone being injured.
Being a leader requires the ability to make tough choices.
But then again, I am a farmer, and I know about things that many people here don’t understand.
What a non issue.
She self destructed her political career. She might not even get reelected in south Dakota. Imagine how she will be received at 4H gatherings in rural Republican strongholds.Best if she retires.
><
You are out of touch and ignorant about how farming and ranching people think. She’ll continue to be well received by 4H because most in 4H understand such things.
Yup
