Overwhelming majorities of Americans have lost their trust in the media to accurately report the news, according to a new poll out Wednesday.
In a survey from the American Press Institute and The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, a whopping 83 percent of respondents said they were concerned the media would “report inaccurate information or disinformation” in their 2024 election coverage.
Eighty-one percent said they are worried the media will report unverified information, and 77 percent said they feared the media would stick to the facts — but be dishonest in their framing, only covering things favorable to their preferred candidates or detrimental to their opponents.
Pollsters found that 72 percent are worried media will rely on artificial intelligence to generate stories.
...
The survey results corroborate the findings of another poll released by Gallup last fall, which revealed American trust in the media at a new low. According to Gallup, 39 percent of Americans rated their level of confidence in mass media at “none at all,” marking an all-time high since 1972 when the pollster first asked the question. Twenty-nine percent said they had “not very much trust” in media, and only about 3 in 10 reported any confidence.
Trust in the media peaked in the 1970s and has suffered a rapid decline since 2018 when, in the middle of the Trump administration, the corporate press executed a character assassination of Brett Kavanaugh, then a Supreme Court nominee. The federal judge was smeared as a gang rapist while President Trump was accused of serving as an undercover Kremlin agent in the White House.
During the 2020 presidential election, the corporate media dismissed Hunter Biden’s laptop and its blockbuster revelations about Democrat Joe Biden’s intimate involvement in his son’s overseas business ventures. National Public Radio wrote off the scandal as a “waste” of “time,” while other outlets such as Politico published allegations from former intelligence officials, who tried to discredit the laptop as Russian disinformation. Politico waited until nearly a year after the election to verify the infamous laptop as authentic.
The other 20% are hardcore Leftists.
Thats because corporate media is not corporate. They are propaganda arms of our government. They are crawling with ex-FBI, CIA, and other ex-government employees. Corporate media is government propaganda, controlled by the government.
“The most insidious power the media has, is the power to ignore.” — Chris Plante, WMAL, DC.
I’m skeptical of any so-called “media” bunch who have to hire their own “fact checkers” to try to build credibility to the crap they spew.

How do you like them apples CNN?
As was said over 125 years ago, “If you do not read a newspaper you are not being informed. If you do read a newspaper you are being misinformed.”
Having almost a 60 year history of complaining about and pointing out media bias I welcome aboard the general public.
That’s encouraging, if true.
The media has abandoned the news business in favor of the propaganda business. But don’t blame the media; listening to the pro-Hamas college students, it’s easy to conclude that they prefer propaganda to facts or the truth. Exposure to facts has them scurrying to the nearest safe zone.
now that SorozNazi is buying up more USA mass media, radio I have even less trust
like zero
how many continue to fund them with their cable tv subscriptions?
if you want the lying to stop
stop funding them
Local TV personality interviewing a NRA supporter about some proposed gun legislation. Interviewer asked a specific question. Several minutes later as a similar question framed differently.
That night the broadcast spliced question one to the second answer. Falsely made the NRA guy sound stupid and irresponsible.
That was also about 50 years ago. I’ve never trusted the media since.
“Corporate media” is a bogus Leftist term.
I prefer “DNCMedia”.
8 out of 10. I’m wondering how many of those Americans who do not trust Corporate Media actually WORK for Corporate Media.
They ought to know.
In 1951 my dad was on the front lines in Korea. CBS reported that his whole company had been annihilated. My mom spent 2 weeks fearing he was dead until she got a letter from him post-dated after that false report.
My dad has never trusted the media since then, and I have never, ever trusted the media.
But my nieces and nephews do. It’s really sad.
This is the very definition of Fake News.
Fake News might be somewhat true, but it's written in a biased and slanted way to promote leftist agendas.
Wow, that was bold bias.
