The phrase “arming teachers” has standard meanings: To provide teachers with arms or to force teachers to carry arms. “Arming teachers” puts teachers in a passive role, with someone else “arming” them. It is being used to oppose a mild gun law reform bill in Tennessee.
The phrase is being used in an Orwellian way by those opposed to an armed population. It is used by the left to prevent teachers from being allowed to protect themselves and the children in their care. The phrase “arming teachers” has become equated with removing restrictions on the ability of teachers to arm themselves.
This is standard causation reversal by leftists. Teachers are not armed because school administrators and governments have prevented them from being armed.
How would Tennessee’s law arming teachers work?
Tennessee’s law would allow facilities or staff to carry concealed guns on their respective campuses.
Later, the article mentions the extreme restrictions on carrying by teachers in Tennessee schools.
If passed, this bill would arm school staff members upon completing training, background checks and a psychological evaluation.

It’s true, guns are bad! Sit outside a gun shop, watch the folks go in, and then watch as they never come out again.
What if we made firearms training mandatory to get a license to teach? We would have a different workforce in the schools.
Screw guns. I want to see teachers armed with 155mm towed artillery.
Leftists do NOT want us armed when they want to kill us. That’s it plain and simple.
Great point. I am not interested in “arming teachers”, but am interesting in allowing them to arm themselves.
“Tennessee’s law would allow facilities or staff to carry concealed guns on their respective campuses.”
How does a facility carry concealed?
“Tennessee’s law would allow facilities or staff to carry concealed guns on their respective campuses.”
How does a facility carry concealed?
Bet facility is a spell checked faculty (as in teachers)
Back in the day 70s, 80s and 90s there were guns in some schools. Communities knew and all was good. To my knowledge none were ever used or needed.
That makes more sense.
Time for snubbies in SOB to arise.
Allowing teachers to be armed , besides the intruders, will send a message to students too.
I have to wonder how many teachers are already CCing, regardless. I would imagine there are a few.
The left is good at distorting the defining terms in order to push their agenda. Many of their terms gets adopted by otherwise conservatives in print and even here on FreeRepublic. Some examples:
“Arming teachers” instead of accurately “allowing teachers to be armed”.
“Sexual orientation” instead of accurately “sexual preference”.
“Unborn” instead of accurately “preborn”.
“Gender” instead of accurately “sex”.
Saying a person’s “gender is assigned” at birth instead of the accurate saying that a person’s “sex is recorded” at birth.
Feel free to add to the list.
Only in rural areas. Urban areas will do quite well with just hand grenades.
Just as a side note, teachers in private schools in TN were allowed to carry after the Covenant shooting. This bill is to extend that right to teachers in public schools.
Train ALL teachers in the use of arms, as part of their licensing. ARM all those who wish to be armed.
“ The major argument of those who opposed armed protectors in schools is “guns are bad”.
That’s partially correct. The Left loves guns as long as they’re the only ones who have them.

It happens.
