Former Rep. Peter Meijer, R-Mich., announced Friday evening that he had dropped out of the race to represent Michigan in the U.S. Senate.
"I got into this race because I believed I had the strongest chance of winning in November to work to right this ship and reverse trendlines that have only gotten worse over these past months," Meijer, whose family founded the Meijer supermarket chain, said in a statement posted on X.
"The hard reality is the fundamentals of the race have changed significantly since we launched this campaign," he continued. "After prayerful consideration, today I withdrew my name from the primary ballot. Without a strong pathway to victory, continuing this campaign only increases the likelihood of a divisive primary that would distract from the essential goal — conservative victories in November."

Adios Gringo!
The stores are nice.
He was stupid.
Go anti-MAGA, go and weep to RINO mama.
“”I got into this race because I believed I had the strongest chance of winning in November...””
Nahhh, you got in because you believed you could help Joe Biden get re-”elected”.
Die McRomBush, die!
Drop dead Peter.
With a name like “Peter Major”, I bet he is all full of himself. In the end he is just a first-rate Dick.
You were NEVER going to win ya RINO loser. Buh bye.
You could say that Meijer is leaving publix service, since the voters graded him aldi’s. If his successor cuts the budget, we might sav-a-lot.
Bullshit. This guy doesn't have a fraction of clue as to what the word "conservative" actually means. He's only afraid of splitting the RINO vote in the primary (with Amash) and letting Rogers win.
Rogers is FAR from being a perfect conservative, but the Senate already has a sufficient number of Trump-hating RINOs in it (not to mention 100% of Democrats), and we don't need to add another one.
As I've written before, the GOP primary debates would have been interesting at least in the sense of watching Meijer and Amash duke it out over which one hates Trump more. As long as they both lose in the end, that's what counts.
The Michigan Senate election in November is definitely "lean D" but the recent polls confirm that Rogers fares far better against Slotkin and her huge-$$$ advantage than Gadfly Amash does, and he might be able to get this into tossup range.
Meijer didn't even show a pulse in the polls, which is another reason for him to crawl back into his hole.
I like Meijer stores. Still wish I had a Publix near me, though.
Fyi, Meijer is pronounced like Meyer. Pete is still a Dick.
Agreed, NOT POPULAR AT ALL.
GO GET,A,REAL,JOB.
RINO.
These people don’t understand conservatism.
It has nothing to do with money. It might have 50-100 years ago, but no longer. The Fed creates money from nothingness whimsically. A substance from nothingness cannot possibly define an philosophy.
These guys do not have to “back Trump”. They have to back Drain the Swamp and Build the Wall. Every word spent talking about the budget is meaningless at $36T of debt and over $1T in interest.
The horse has left the barn. Nothing can be done about it, and “conservatives” helped it happen.
The election is about draining the swamp. Eradicate elites. Frankly, that’s all that can be done. You could elect a 100% MAGA Congress, all of whom immediately become Swamp, and you would see nearly no change in the budget because it is too far gone.
All that can be done is drain the Swamp. End presidential daily media briefings. That’s a whole roomful of Swamp erased. The civil service rules preclude firing them, but you can move their assignment to cubicles and assign them to process timecards. No more positions of responsibility for pretty much anyone. After a few months of this, they will retire. Then don’t replace them.
He got Cheneyed outta office. Good!
He just realized that he has been played by the RATS and his political future is over.
You would think that after McCain, Crazy Liz and Flake, they would figure this out for themselves.
Let’s take the win...
Let’s take the win...
