NASA Administrator Bill Nelson is being mocked for suggesting the far side of the moon is always “dark” and can’t explain why China is interested in exploring that part of the moon.
“What do you think the Chinese are trying to get at, at the back side of the moon?” Rep. David Trone (D-MD) asked Nelson at a congressional hearing last week.
“They are going to have a lander on the far side of the moon, which is the side which is always in dark. Uh, we’re not planning to go there,” he said.

Has China Just Found An Alien Base On The Moon?

In one way, the back side of the moon IS dark, since there is no way you can see it FROM THE EARTH. A satellite that is orbiting Earth would have no line-of-sight with the "dark" side either.
If you were to land a probe there, there would be no way to see or communicate with it without a relay satellite in lunar orbit.
In this way, there is a "dark side" of the moon.
That said, I have no idea why the Chinese would want to land there.
Well it is getting difficult to find nice secluded parking spots by the lake for romantic evenings...
to all. The moon is locked to the Earth, meaning that it always points the same face towards our planet. The dark side of the Moon is the side that we cannot see from Earth because it is permanently facing away from us.
See my post #66
Which is why its always dark. Everyone knows Germans wire for 220, only China can produce the adapters.
The secret Nazi moonbase is actually in Antarctica. Because nobody would ever think of looking for a moonbase in Antarctica. Those guys are sneaky.
“Which one’s Floyd”?
They are going to the other side of the moon to build something they don’t want us to know about.
... Despite the fact that a lot of people know it as the “dark side of the moon,” the far side of the moon is not always dark. It is only called the dark side because it cannot be seen from Earth but in reality, it has its own day and night cycles.Mar 14, 2023 - https://indianexpress.com/article/technology/science/telescope-far-side-of-the-moon-universe-dark-ages-8497173/
The twits at nasa know that and have since the 1960’s.
Yes, the moon is "Tidally locked" to the earth. The side of the moon permanently facing away from us experiences light and dark (day and night) in a 29.5 (earth) day cycle, just the same as the side that faces the earth. The lunar hemisphere that faces away from the earth is more accurately described as the "far side of the moon". No educated person calls it the dark side...
It would be “dark” to radio communications, which does make it seem a bit odd. Could they put a repeater in lunar orbit? Are they planning periodic data retrieval?
Next NASA will go to the Sun at night when it’s dark.
“Pink Floyd” was (is) a fictitious character - sort of. Syd Barrett named the group after his 2 favorite blues artists, Pink Anderson and Floyd Council.
Jethro Tull was a real person: An English agronomist, agriculturist, writer, and inventor of considerable repute in English history. (Many people used to think Ian Anderson was “Jethro Tull”.)
Uriah Heep was a character in a Dickens novel.
Tull and Heep are still touring!
per wiki....The name is derived from the given names of two blues musicians whose Piedmont blues records Barrett had in his collection, Pink Anderson and Floyd Council.
