Oh, sweet — the ‘nanny state’ is back!
Fast-food chains and coffee shops in New York City would have to slap a warning on menu boards and packaging under a new rule from the Adams administration.
The city Health Department’s first-in-the-nation edict will mean labels warning on food and drinks with more than 50 grams of added sugar, including frozen coffee drinks from places like Starbucks and Dunkin’ Donuts, fountain sodas and even hot chocolate.
Food outlets with 15 or more stores in the US are ordered to use a warning icon — a spoon loaded with heaps of sugar — to alert and maybe shame sweet-toothed customers.

This will surely help the people who didn’t already know that doughnuts contain sugar. It’s good that the government has now solved the obesity epidemic. Is there nothing they cannot do?

But this will upset their corporate donors / puppet masters.
When will NYC mandate a Warning Label for Taxes are included in the product you brought?
What next?
Warning demanded on STREET DRUGS???
If anything deserves a warning label, it is the government.
If anyone deserves a warning label, it is the politicians.
No argument there. THey need to wear labels like race car drivers of who their ‘sponsors’ are
DUH.
Orange juice has the same caloric count per serving as Coke
Are New Yorkers too dumb to know there is sugar in foods?
What about a black Starbucks coffee?
Didn’t they pass a law outlawing ‘body-type’ (”Fat-shaming”) discrimination?
