UN nuclear chief: Iran ‘weeks, not months’ from enough uranium to make a bomb

The head of the United Nations nuclear watchdog has said that it would take Iran just weeks to have enough enriched uranium to make a nuclear bomb, and that Tehran’s activity, alongside the limited access it grants to its facilities, “raises eyebrows.”

But International Atomic Energy Agency chief Rafael Mariano Grossi told Deutsche Welle in a report published Monday that attacking Iran’s nuclear facilities should be a “no-go.”

Grossi said that Iran is “weeks rather than months” away from having enough enriched uranium to make a nuclear weapon.

You’re not thinking of Scott Ritter are you? He was a UN weapons inspector in Iraq I believe.

“They’ve been saying this since the W. administration.”

I don’t know what passes for an Iranian centrifuge, but generally they could have used home blenders and done it sooner.

THAT is the name I thought was connected to Iran and the nuclear weapons inspection...my mistake. It was in my mind and yet several people were able to make sense of who I was thinking of - amazing! Now WHY do I remember him is the question? Must have been newsworthy at the time..

“”Are you sure you aren’t thinking of Scott Ritter the UNSCOM inspector who was an inspector in Iraq, not Iran?””

That’s exactly the name I had in my mind but connected to the wrong country and job...Thanks...I don’t remember WHY his name was so well known at the time...just because he was the one sent there?? It’s overwhelming trying to place all the pieces of the puzzle so many years later - I should just give up trying..IT doesn’t matter!! Hard to get rid of a lifelong streak of curiosity, I guess.

Yes, that is the name that I couldn’t spit out - wrong country/wrong job, I guess but thanks.

Not thanking you for ruining my thinking he was one of the good guys. Shucks!! Sometimes I just don’t NEED to have all the answers...

"Now WHY do I remember him is the question?"

He's a convicted sex offender. He was arrested twice in stings. Some here say he was set up. He wouldn't accept a plea deal, and was found guilty in 2011. Sent to a Pa. State prison in 2012 where he did a couple of years.

I know I don’t remember him for that. That’s too common place - LOL! Do you remember that? I sure don’t...

I looked it up after some wrote that...one FReeper said he’s married or was married to a Russian...I didn’t find that anywhere.

All anybody knows is that her name is allegedly Marina, and because Lee Harvey Oswald's wife's name was Marina, and she was from Russia, that's probably where they came up with that one. The wikipedia source for the name Marina was apparently published in a Sunday edition of The New York Times Magazine, but it doesn't even provide the date or issue number of the magazine.
