What’s a *DFL*?
Not them this time, Boo Boo.
Democrat Farmer Labor (Party)
“Democrat Farm Labor” MN Dems were goofy long before the Somali takeover.
“The widow of Mitchell’s late father resides in the house that Mitchell was arrested in, according to a Senate DFL source”
Still weird but not a random stranger’s home.
She be flipped out over something.
Wicked Step Mother’s house?
Probably taking advantage of the seasonal drop in population, only it didn't work out for him.
It was a merger of the Democratic and the Farmer Labor Parties way back.
Is this senator black? Why would a state senator burglarize houses when she could steal with graft, etc.?
Death of her Dad?
Trying to get something that once belonged to him, perhaps, that the widow now owns?
The info you just provided sorta, kinda explains itas a family squabble. Two women who probably never liked each other. At first, I had visions of a Cat Burglar in a black, skintight, leather bodysuit.
I imagine DFL doesn't apply here... or maybe it does.
They buried the lede.
Communists....
...communist elements of the DFL opposed. “We’re not going to let the political philosophy of the DFL be dictated from the Kremlin”, Humphrey said, “You can be a liberal without being a Communist, and you can be a progressive without being a communist sympathizer, and we’re a liberal progressive party out here. We’re not going to let this left-wing Communist ideology be the prevailing force because the people of this state won’t accept it, and what’s more, it’s wrong”.
In 1946, the communists seized control of the DFL, largely by the tactic of staying at meetings until after everyone else had gone home and then electing themselves officers. At the state convention in St. Paul, Humphrey was jeered and spat upon by the communists, and his wife, Muriel, was refused entry until his police driver muscled her in. As Humphrey rose to speak, there were cries of “fascist” and “warmonger” and a sergeant at arms told him “Sit down, you son of a bitch, or I’ll knock you down”. Humphrey was unable to finish his speech. Ultimately Humphrey and his liberals were successful in wresting control of the DFL from the communists, mostly by using the old tactic of packing meetings themselves. But he would not forget his fight with Minnesota’s communists.

I'm guessing 'the widow' kept the picnic basket her Dad said she could have - or some such thing...
They sure sound like the average Minnesota Dem. Humphry’s fix was evidently short term.
