DeSantis was a much better presidential candidate. He could have actually won.
yes, and no.
It’s like he is two different persons. As governor, he certainly looks and acts presidential. Does the right things for his state. As a candidate, he never resonated with the electorate, and instead of recognizing that Trump already had the people’s trust locked in, he schmoozed with anti-trumper elites in the attempt to discredit Trump. It had an element of Jeb like entitlement. He may yet be the guy for 2028, but his campaign leaves a lingering uncertainty of which man he really is.
DeSantis lost when he helped pass a law that prevented you from criticizing a certain group of people. When dems get I power eventually they are going to turn that law on its head with new creative interpretations.
>> DeSantis was a much better presidential candidate.
Apart from his qualities as a governor — DeSantis was actually a LOUSY, tone deaf candidate with little to no sense of timing. And for those who love to accuse President Trump of selecting poor lieutenants and advisors... DeSantis assembled, and took advice from, some real howlers.
“DeSantis was a much better presidential candidate. He could have actually won.”
Instead he listened to his wife and the Deep State, flipping on Ukraine, and attacking Trump. Pretty much wrecked him as top-tier material.
But yes, he had a chance as a default candidate (certainly far better than the others), but ONLY if Democrats had taken out Trump for him, because there was NO WAY any other Republican stood a chance, as long as Trump was in the race.
I love what he is doing for Florida again, hope he continues this streak. If he hadn't screwed up by running, he'd be big time first on the list for 2028.
