Key Democrats revealed new legislation Friday that would strip former President Donald Trump of his Secret Service agents if he is convicted and sentenced to prison.
Rep. Bennie G. Thompson, the top Democrat on the House Homeland Security Committee, said it’s about making sure Mr. Trump doesn’t get special treatment for whatever crime he might be sentenced. He is worried that having to accommodate a Secret Service protective detail could lead to accommodations for a former president.
“It is regrettable that it has come to this, but this previously unthought-of scenario could become our reality,” the Mississippi lawmaker said. “Therefore, it is necessary for us to be prepared and update the law so the American people can be assured that protective status does not translate into special treatment —and that those who are sentenced to prison will indeed serve the time required of them.”
He named his bill the Denying Infinite Security and Government Resources Allocated toward Convicted and Extremely Dishonorable Former Protectees Act — or the DISGRACED Former Protectees Act.
Under the law, former presidents such as Mr. Trump are given Secret Service protection.
For Mr. Trump, who is both a political candidate and a prosecuted citizen, that’s creating new challenges for the agency...
Mr. Trump also faces criminal cases in a state courtroom in Georgia and federal courtrooms in Florida and the District of Columbia.
Democrats who back the new bill said they believe the legislation is legal and constitutional. They dismissed ex post facto concerns, saying that legal doctrine barring changing the rules after the fact applies only in cases where the law is meant to be punitive.

I wonder if anyone has thought about what happens the day after Trump is murdered in prison. They create a martyr. They create something idealized and unkillable. Trump might end up more influential and unbeatable dead than alive.
It’s amazing that Democrats can’t see even a minute into the future to predict what their actions might inadvertently accomplish. Raise taxes, tax revenue falls. Attempt to seize guns, gun sales reach ever repeating new records.

Oh don’t worry...the American public already knows the only form of “special treatment” he’s getting is an outright political prosecution from the ruling elites.
Looks like they’re sending Trump for a Putin Solution. All unsurprising really because Joe has done the best he can to make sure something like that happens to Bobby Kennedy, Jr. by denying him SS protection, and deliberately allowing totally illegal demonstrating in front of Supreme Court justices’ homes, demonstrating that led to the attempted assassination of Justice Kavanaugh.
Thompson is a horrible, evil, little man. Nothing but human debris.

If the law strips Trump of Secret Service protection, can the Secret Service do anything to resist? They will probably word the law in such a way that they have no choice.

Not what they say.. What in actuality, has he done?
In their arrogance, they seem to forget that there were patriots who were eager to risk their lives and limbs after our people were killed by Muslims on our soil. They somehow think they are immune from similar patriots who will no longer allow their leader and their rights to be tarnished by scumbag traitors. They also wrongly assume their nazi orders will be followed by LEO and Secret Service. There are far more of us than the Gung ho segment of the FIBS or deep state.
