If your kitty has claws, you soon won’t be able to have them removed in the Commonwealth. Gov. Glenn Youngkin has signed a bill outlawing the declawing of cats by veterinarians, effective July 1. This is not applicable to nail filing, nail trimming or the placement of temporary nail caps on your cat’s claws. Civil penalties include $500 for the first violation, $1,000 for the second violation and $2,500 for the third or any subsequent violation.

This is completely untrue. Ask any vet. This is your excuse for putting your furniture over an intelligent, sensitive living creature.

We purchased utilitarian furniture with hardwood legs, and that was effective. Our worst clawer got brain cancer at 3 and is no longer with us. She was also entertainingly sassy, as she would meow at my wife before defying her (e.g. jumping on the dining table). I would rather have her than perfect furniture. Besides our 15 year old son is rougher on it than the cats. We can’tget him declawed though.”
I sprinkle a little cat nip on a scratcher and give a treat when they use it. Works great.

Rather than? Why not both? Cruelty to animals is not nanny state. Apparently you don’t get it.
Every cat is different. Catnip does not work on 1/3rd of cats. We also have a five yearood male who is fussy, and startlingly unmoved by treats. He is very affectionate and lets us put drops in his eyeswhen needed.
....I simply cannot believe Gov. Younkin would sign this into law....we have been married for over 50 years and have had at least one cat and as many as four cats at any given time; all have been declawed and all apparently didn’t suffer any long-lasting trauma as a a result....give me a break...
Hey, maybe an unethical vet that declaws cats will team up with an abortion clinic to make it a twofer for the cat ladies.

As a lifelong cat lover I stopped declawing our cats 8 years ago after extensive reading on the subject.
Once I learned the short and long term negative effects of declawing, I chose to allow my cats to keep their claws. It is not the easier choice at times but it was the right choice for me.
When declawing is outlawed, only outlaws will declaw.

Dangerous criminal gangs of underground cat declawers will roam the streets and backroads of our nation . They will call out to the innocent “ here kitty kitty”.
When the unsuspecting felines come near, the horrible actions will happen.

The best I've had in at least toning down the abortion rhetoric in someone I've debated with, is showing her the true definition of "fetus". Wait until she says, "It's not a baby. It's a fetus." Show her that "fetus" is Latin for offspring. I told her that her leftist overlords convinced her and her pals that she should kill her offspring, but not the offspring of the leftist overlords. You never hear them talk about aborting their own offspring. The political leaders are implementing a silent war against you, all while you think they're empowering you to fight someone else.
That gave her pause and she shut up her abortion rhetoric. She never came back and told me that I was right or that she's now pro-life. But it at least shut her up.

OH yeah, my character isn’t determined by how I care for my very, spoiled cats. If you ever owned one you would know those who decide to scratch something other than toys (which mine have in abundance) will do as they please.
Why can’t cats get species affirming care?
My mom had several cats with front claws removed over the years, no problems at all. They lived long, happy and pampered cat lives, 12 to 16 years for all of them. Just as an FYI, the cats flew up the sides of trees onto limbs because cats mainly use their rear feet in climbing.
Wife and I adopted a beautiful adult female tuxedo cat abandoned by her owners when they got a new little kitten (classless and scummy individuals). Her front claws had been removed, she was healthy and happy, passed away years later from kidney problems.

We’ve got 3 cats, and they do claw the carpets. I’ve considered declawing them, which would be VERY convenient for us, but it really is a barbaric surgery.
So we use claw covers, which we glue on with superglue. It helps.

Take the high-profile teenage daughter of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie for example. Was a tom-boy to the hilt for years, dressed in boy’s clothes, wanted to be called John or something like that until a couple years ago. Now she’s wearing dresses and behaving like (could it be so?!) a GIRL. Imagine if they’d pushed her to take hormones or start changing her body? The horror of the thought. Most of these kids are just trying to stand out/be different because they are so unhappy. It’s all due to moving away from God. They have no real, moral center in life. No real Truth. No value because they think this life is all there is.

We have plenty of stuff in Virginia that needs to be fixed up ASAP that concerns humans.
