Katie Couric said resentfulness stemming from globalization is driving the anti-establishment Trump voter to the voting booth in an interview with Bill Maher on his podcast 'Club Random.'
"I think that is a huge problem that we have to address," Couric said. "Globalization and the transition from an industrial to a technological society. I don't know if you've ever been jealous of what someone else has or resentful. It is such a corroding and bitter, almost vile feeling. I think that when people who are really struggling see people who have everything and are on top of that looking down on them. It is just a recipe for such anger and resentment and grievance."

Well, I hold Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral degrees in what might be considered STEM fields.
And I consider myself a strong MAGA Trump supporter.
But I wouldn’t let Katie Couric handle my laundry.
Right….. ya think Katie? Duh!
In the sense that “anti-Intellectualism” as Thomas Sowell defined intellectualism in his excellent book “Intellectuals and Society”, she is spot on.
In the sense that anti-elitism is a driving force...same thing.
In the sense of class hatred, that is the sole provenance of the Left. Period.
She slept her way upward in the news business. Her office at one time was right next to the cbs president who was sexually assaulting women in that office. He had a remote lock on the door he used. She claimed she was unaware what was going on the other side of those thin walls.
Which semi-sane spec of truth did she bump into ? Specifically ? Envy ?
Yes. “class hatred” is the core instrument of marxists, is it not?
While there may be a lot of low income, rural voters that are new to the demographer’s radar screen because they seem to love Trump, it has always been a fun game for the leftists to cheer on democrat’s past monopoly over what they thought was a dependency class, and now that they can’t lay claim to poverty as a means to a political ends, they no longer have a need to project false empathy.
In our country (and a lot of others, indicating this is not an accident) the shift has been from “class hatred” to “race hatred” or “gender hatred”.
Same goals. Different paths.
Uggg! Why even keep a pic of the skank?
You’re not a bulimic and in need of a cathartic are you? /s🤭
agree
She is wrong. She needs to learn the difference between the word jealous and the word envious. These media folks are poorly educated.
She was a cheerleader and a Tri-Delt though. ;-)
That was the peak of her career!
“Popularity. Doesn’t matter. People loved him and what he was saying,” Maher said. “And then you cut to a panel of six know-it-alls in Washington who do nothing but talk about the negative. I’m all-in on the negative. No one’s been harder on Trump than me. But I get it, and I’m bored with it. And there’s a different way to do this, I think.”
“So, what is it?” Couric asked, to which Maher said he thinks media pundits and commentators should try to better understand Trump voters.
“Not to defend Trump, but to defend the people who still vote for him,” Maher said. “Because what they see on the other side, to them, is even more dangerous. Because it’s closer to home: ‘My kid is coming home from school and he thinks he’s a racist? He’s five, what have you been telling him? My son thinks maybe he’s not a boy.’ And maybe that’s true, that happens. Those kind of things are what they say. ‘That’s why I’m voting for Trump.’”
“A backlash to the pendulum swinging so far to the left,” Couric said, tactfully ignoring Maher’s sideswipes against gender-affirming care for trans youth and educational programming on race in the U.S.
For “lots of people,” Maher theorized, it’s not as though they actually like Trump. “But he’s all that stands between us and madness.”
It’s not enough to be an elite. Elites are also entitled to look down on others, imagining them to be envious and bitter, even though the Bible they “cling to” teaches them not to.
Stuff it, Katie.
Can we see your colonoscopy again Katie?

People like Couric remind me of what Ben Rhodes, Obama national security advisor, said about the White House press corps: “They’re a bunch of 27 year olds who don’t know anything, and will believe whatever you tell them.”
Careful with that smug there Kate.
She’s still alive let alone relevant?
