A bishop and three worshippers have been attacked in another stabbing rampage to rock Sydney, as riot police have been called in to quell mounting tensions in the city's west.
Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel was preaching at Christ The Good Shepherd Church in Wakeley in Sydney's west on Monday just after 7pm when a man dressed in black walked up to the altar and allegedly stabbed him multiple times.
Horrifying footage of the incident, which was being broadcast live on the church's YouTube page, shows Bishop Emmanuel look up in astonishment as the attacker suddenly rains down blows on his face and head.
The alleged attack has sparked unrest outside the church as hundreds gathered in protest, hurling bottles and bricks at a hastily-erected police barrier as chants of 'an eye for an eye' could be heard.

The Assyrian Church of the East is a descendant of the Nestorian church that before the Mohammedans swept through was very widespread throughout southern Asia. The Thomas Christians of India are such and have now split into three parts, one has affiliated with Rome, one with Constantinople and one remains as originally Nestorian. Thomas Christians in India go back to the first century to the Apostle Thomas who was martyred there. His remains were transferred east and now rest in Spain. The Thomas Christians historically got their bishops from Syria. The Ethiopians and the Thomas Christians that united with Constantinople and Rome seem to have done so to preserve their existence. Before that they were and the Copts and Armenians still are Monophysite.
Thank goodness Aussies aren’t allowed to carry firearms; someone could have been hurt.

True. Instead of prohibiting any Muslim in our nation via citizenship or crossing our open border we should’ve kicked them the hell out! If his church is non Chalcedonian, as it appears, he wouldn’t be Orthodox.
Since Aussies allowed themselves (like Canadians) to be disarmed, this will continue. They deserve it.

There is.... if you talk to some young men between the ages of 25-31 you'll see something happening. The media paints them all as tik-toking, lipstick wearing, finger nail polished sexually ambiguous things... but if and when the threat is finally at the breaking point... someone more aggressive, less civil and with possible military training will offer solutions and then.... everybody will get the civil war they've been aching for.
I hope I'm not around for it, because it will be horrible. The deep state bureaucrats deliberately destroyed our country and when they are on their knees with a blade across their throat, house burning in the background, dead children on the lawn and their women laying raped and murdered.....they'll still blame heterosexual, white, Christian, patriotic males as the cause of it all....actually I hope I'm around for that part.
Don’t blame the author and the editor - if you want to blame anybody, the blame is with the Australian courts.
If they didn’t use that word, they’d be prejudicing the rights of the ‘accused’ (again, that’s how it goes).

Americans seem to have been grossly misinformed on this and I wonder how much of that is deliberate.
Yes, we have some strict gun control laws - but they are not that strict. Law abiding citizens have little difficulty owning firearms if they want to, and there are, in fact, more guns legally held by private citizens in private hands than at any time in Australian history.
But heaven forbid (and may God protect you) if you use your government-approved firearm to protect yourself or others...
Australians also do have the right to use reasonable force - including lethal force, if necessary, in self defence.
You may have to convince a jury the force was reasonable, and I do think there have been some cases where the police have been overly zealous in trying to get cases to court when common sense should have made it clear that it was self defence, but in the end, the courts have generally got it right even in those cases.

Bishop Mar Mari Emmanual founded his own independent church, in a Sydney suburb, in the Syriac tradition. He was expelled from The Ancient Church of the East a few years back, over obscure liturgical quarrels, and mention was made of the Council of Nicaea - which (as you would be aware) is a sign that a debate is getting profound. I have heard that the real reason for these divisions was an ethnic rivalry between Chaldeans and Christian Arabs. The division has largely been patched up now. The ability of the Eastern churches to set up autonomous faith communities is sometimes very helpful to them - they can avoid larger storms - just go off and do their own thing.
Bishop Mar Mari has lots of controversial opinions, being anti-vax, and - even more shocking to the media - preaches against the trans cult. He is firm in his opinions, but warm hearted, and witnesses Christian love. After the attack, he asked for people to pray for his assailant, and refrain from any sort of revenge.
