British Royal Air Force fighter jets shot down a “number of” Iranian attack drones launched against Israel, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak confirmed on Sunday.
RAF jets scrambled to protect Israel from their bases in Iraq and Syria intercepted and downed Iranian military drones, Prime Minister Sunak said while warning that “the fallout for regional stability would be hard to overstate” if the strikes on Israel had been successful.

Lots of pieces in that puzzle. Hitler’s incompetence, for one. Plus Stalin’s wise decision not to interfere with his generals on the tactical level. Plus the US aid, as you noted.
I do not discount any of that. However, I must add that the “quantity has a quality all its own” thing also played a huge role. The Soviets could have tried to counter the expensive and complicated German tanks with expensive and complicated tanks of their own.
The Soviets went in another direction. And it helped them to win the war.
I suppose these days some sort of quantity/quality balance is needed. Fortunately, I’m not a decision-maker in DC. I’d probably go too far with the quantity thing.

The T34 was better than the American M4 Sherman tank by far. Even in WW2 we depended on air power to pick up the slack where we had weaknesses against the Germans.
And quantity and quality are minimally required to some point where the combination has the sweet spot to win in battle.

Iron Dome Tamir missiles cost under $100,000 each. Arrow missiles cost a lot more but far fewer were used. I don’t know about $1 Billion in 30 seconds.

The USSR absorbed massive damage from the German armed forces, which would otherwise have been directed at the UK and, eventually, the USA. The Eastern Front was far more bloody and terrible than the Western Front.
