We had no leaves but the spaces between the branches did same
a friend used a colander. with same results.
I’ve seen 3. Yawn
It became cloudier and cloudier as time went by down here. At the point of maximum moon coverage, the cloud layer was just the right thickness, so that the crescent sun showed through, but dimly enough to look at with my naked eye. Then it continued getting cloudier, and the sun was completely obscured.
Just for a moment at the height of the eclipse you could catch a glimpse of Witches and Warlocks and Trolls and Dragons..... 🐉
Cool

Was driving back home from Florida with my wife and we stopped after the partial eclipse. Sure seemed like the sun was super bright. Looked at the reflection for a second in my phone screen.
LOL! I’ll have to remember the ‘colander’ idea - if I live till the next one :-)
I tried a colander but didn't see much, maybe just a little "nibble" off the disc, here in the east SF Bay Area.
Maybe you have to make your own, with bigger holes...
I can’t watch it on video. It says eclipse to start soon. ElonMusk Musk posted video:

Oh, cr*p! My sister told me to look on the ground for the crescent suns on ground, but I forgot My brain just doesn’t retain important immediate info anymore.
Thanks!
Several hours later, the interstates leading to St. Louis, Chicago, and Nashville, from SEMO and S. IL, were still packed, according to local news reports.
Sounds wonderful. I have family living in Hot Springs, AR. Too bad I didn’t learn about this total sun eclipse a month ago. I wouldn’ve loved to visit.
