Navy Focused on DEI, Now It Can’t Figure Out How to Build Ships - “We don’t have detailed plans of action, milestones, initiatives."

“America’s Navy values diversity, equality and inclusivity,” the woke Navy leadership claims. “We believe that when a diverse group of individuals come together to do a job, they can do it better because of their differences.”

The Year of Hate helped accelerate the woke destruction of the US Navy.

Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Michael Gilday announced that he wanted to change the Navy. While the title of the video of his remarks was “One Team, One Navy”, its divisive message was that the Navy was racist and only “conversations” about race would help.

Gilday “shared” videos of naval personnel claiming that America was racist and that they were angry. “Being African-American in America is not fun,” an aviation technician claimed.

A lieutenant commander claimed that he had experienced “systemic racism” and “implicit bias”. A white corpsman urged that “we can stand up for change” and declared that, “tomorrow’s Navy will finally stand on the right side of history when we realize that black lives matter.”

“I have become very aware of my privilege as a white person,” a female musician confessed. Then she claimed that “this country has a history of systemic racism” and called for creating a “country that is more equitable and just.”

The video closed with Gilday vowing to eliminate “systemic racism” with a new task force.

How’s that working out? The “diverse group of individuals” can’t seem to get anything done beyond DEI sessions.

The Navy’s top admiral and civilian secretary have still not responded to questions about a damning Navy report released Tuesday outlining the sweeping failure of the Navy and its industrial partners to make expected progress on two submarine programs, an aircraft carrier and a new class of frigates.

The delays, from one to three years each depending on the program, come as the Navy and Pentagon pour billions into modernizing and upgrading shipyards in an attempt to build and repair ships more quickly and keep pace with China. Beijing’s navy has already surpassed the U.S. in size.

The revelations came in a one-page fact sheet the Navy put together outlining the findings of Navy Secretary Carlos Del Toro’s 45-day shipbuilding study which he ordered in January. Neither Del Toro or the service’s top officer, Adm. Lisa Franchetti, released a statement or commented on the report, which shows a total of 11 years worth of delays across the affected programs.

Two classes of nuclear-powered submarines lead the list of delays, one of which will be the main carrier of the nation’s sea-based nuclear missiles.

Aware of the issues for years, the Navy is still unsure how to fix them.

“We don’t have detailed plans of action, milestones, initiatives — we are identifying and deeply looking into where we are now in a ‘get real, get better’ approach,” Nickolas Guertin, the Navy’s senior acquisition executive, told reporters at the Pentagon on Tuesday after unveiling the results of the Navy-ordered 45-day study.

“We found that we have issues that need to be resolved,” he said. “But we don’t have all those things completely nailed down yet.”

More videos about systemic racism should do it. And diversity. Diversity can fix anything.

We may no longer have a US Navy capable of taking on China, but at least everyone is respecting everyone else’s pronouns.

Our current Chief of Naval Operations, Admiral Lisa Franchetti, is a graduate of Northwestern University, where she majored in journalism.

“America’s Navy values diversity, equality and inclusivity,” the woke Navy leadership claims. “We believe that when a diverse group of individuals come together to do a job, they can do it better because of their differences.”

Everybody see the assumption, the ‘feel’ by the Navy leadership. “We Believe” is what they say. Don’t believe, go check since people lives depend upon it. Prove your assumption. Give them large tasks, include your diversity people, and use 50 year old metrics for success. Contrast it with randomly assigned, or better yet, groups of people that want to work together as a contest. Once again, show me the data that demonstrates that diversity, equality, and inclusivity improves outcomes and isn’t just a giant waste of money and time that alienates good people.

Mostly though, DEI should be put to the test. Don’t “believe”, prove that the Ship isn’t sinking.

A diverse group of individuals come together to do a job, they can do it better because of their differences.

Cats can help birds build better and bigger nests too.

Agendas are always on the mind.

..we could contract our defense shipbuilding to Japan and South Korea. Imagine that.

Yep. Imagine that homogenous, limited diversity countries can run rings around us in manufacturing and construction.

Who knew that our "strength through diversity" might just be detrimental?

I defy anyone who says this to provide proof.

“We believe that when a diverse group of individuals come together to do a job, they can do it better because of their differences.”

It is beyond moronic, but military officers have become careerists more than warriors, and that is a political statement designed to ingratiate themselves with the puppet masters to enhance their resumes.

.. the only thing that will get us out of it is a catastrophe of some kind.

I wish that I shared your optimism in such an ingredient to change our national direction, but I don't.

A catastrophe will be laid at the feet of conservative policies and personnel. The Swamp will demand MORE DEI to fix the issue.

‘Private contractors do. The focus on delay needs to start there.”

I disagree. If the Navy would issue a construction contract and tell the contractor to build it to plan and specifications, then walk away. The contractor would be able to do exactly that. He could, because that was his estimate of the cost and time of the contract. But that is not how the Navy operates. Once the contract is signed, the Navy starts to issue change orders to the contract. Add a missile launcher here, use this piece of machinery instead of that specified, change this space into a women’s berthing compartment etc., etc. The change orders are what drive delay and cost increase in a construction contract. Each time the Navy issues a change order, the contractor is entitled to negotiate cost and schedule impact with the Navy. I would bet with the Gerald Ford contract, the Navy issued thousands of change orders. All of whiched added time to the construction and increased the cost of the finished ship. It goes that way with any ship the Navy contractos to build.

Which we used to call Communism. It drives the same result. DEI is just the same evil wrapped in a fresh blanket.

The “Navy” doesn’t build ships. Private contractors do. The focus on delay needs to start there.

These contractors are likely hemorrhaging talent, can't keep up with changing requirements, and are handcuffed with Communist "Didn't Earn It" (DEI) requirements.

It's all okay though, the illegal alien replacements can build ships for the Navy.

A destoyer cannot be used against an inland population so it is useless.

Same dead fish wrapped in a different newspaper.

Many theories have been put forward to explain the fall of the Roman Empire. But I don't think using the wrong pronouns is one of them.

Maybe time to look at the sources again and see if there is any evidence for misuse of pronouns as a factor.

I doubt Fletcher, Halsey, Spruance or Nimitz had a degree in journalism. At least Lisa could have written a great after-action report of her defeat at Midway from her sinking ship.

Same was true during the inter-war years in the 20-30’s. Thankfully, we had enough time and isolation back then to get it figured out and get the warriors back in charge. We may not have that luxury next time.

The 1980’s and early 90’s weapons programs of the Reagan era are worn out.

I used to think as long as we had nukes and instilled a fear in others we would use them we were fine. Now we have lost that fear and are in the process of loosing our ability to deliver said nukes.

I can’t believe we are this stupid, the deep state and Uniparty has sold us out but to what end. Without a strong USA they lose their power and status. Where are they going to run to when it all comes tumbling down? We have some seriously mentally challenged and suicidal/homicidal maniacs in charge.
