The reposts and expressions of shock from public figures followed quickly after a user on the social platform X who uses a pseudonym claimed that a government website had revealed “skyrocketing” rates of voters registering without a photo ID in three states this year — two of them crucial to the presidential contest.
“Extremely concerning,” X owner Elon Musk replied twice to the post this past week.
“Are migrants registering to vote using SSN?” Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, an ally of former President Donald Trump, asked on Instagram, using the acronym for Social Security number.
Trump himself posted to his own social platform within hours to ask, “Who are all those voters registering without a Photo ID in Texas, Pennsylvania, and Arizona??? What is going on???”
State election officials soon found themselves forced to respond. They said the user, who pledges to fight, expose and mock “wokeness,” was wrong and had distorted Social Security Administration data. Actual voter registrations during the time period cited were much lower than the numbers being shared online.
Stephen Richer, the recorder in Maricopa County, Arizona, which includes Phoenix, refuted the claim in multiple X posts while Jane Nelson, the secretary of state in Texas, issued a statement calling it “totally inaccurate.”
Yet by the time they tried to correct the record, the false claim had spread widely. In three days, the pseudonymous user’s claim amassed more than 63 million views on X, according to the platform’s metrics. A thorough explanation from Richer attracted a fraction of that, reaching 2.4 million users.

And you thought you were rid of me!
Weren't the Federalist Papers and the Anti-Federalist Papers also anonymous? It is in the American tradition.
Also driving wages down, swamping welfare roles, and voting on behalf of dead people still on the voting roles, smuggling dope, either trafficking sex slaves or being sex slaves, etc., etc., etc.
I think you nailed it there. Twitter was a major player in the 2020 fraud, and they want that to happen again. Can't do it with Musk in control.
Yeah sure whatever.
Story is obviously an attempt to smear Musk and X/Twitter. Libs can’t stand not being able to control the narrative. The NYT has spent vast resources attacking sites like ‘Libs Of Tik-Tok’. The NYT even published a long story on the dangers of ‘The Babylon Bee’ a couple of years back.
Specifically to this story.
Quoting Texas Sec. Of State Jane Nelson from an article 4 days ago:
“It is totally inaccurate that 1.2 million voters have registered to vote in Texas without a photo ID this year. The truth is our voter rolls have increased by 57,711 voters since the beginning of 2024. This is less than the number of people registered in the same timeframe in 2022 (about 65,000) and in 2020 (about 104,000).”
Ms. Nelson also points out that while Federal law allows voters to register with just a SSN, Texas law requires valid ID to actually vote.
Maybe some enterprising Freeper can look at Texas voter registration numbers. There should be a way to verify the increase in voter registration numbers in TX. I may do this later on today if I get the time.
Story goes on to say the data on the 1.2 million is an increase in voter registration verification requests, not actual voter registrations, and comes from the Biden Social Security Administration. Maybe the NYT can ask how the SSA is spending taxpayer money and why does the SSA have time to produce garbage data.

Not just that. Any time you apply for ANY government funded benefit (e.g., SNAP, WICs, EITC, AFDC, TANF, Section 8) somewhere in the process is your easy-ask “register to vote” as an included step.
[The AP talking about false information is hilarious.]
Indeed it is. The sad part is not many people realize just how slanted “the news media” truly are.
Love this bit...

“Reporter @AP covering elections, misinformation, disinformation and threats to democracy.”
Okay, a presstitute.
“The deep state wants to outlaw anonymity. Anonymity is the only way to criticize the regime and stay out of prison.”
Bingo...

Oh, that pesky history.
It must be rewritten immediately - ‘1984’ style

Folks, one of the authors used to work for Newsguard.
Bet AP has never disclosed that to readers...
Who’s to say the commenter isn’t correct and it isn’t the state officials pushing the misinformation?
Clever response. They're only disputing the numbers, not the claim that the registrants may be illegals.
Note to the two dirty scumbag propagandist ALI SWENSON and MELISSA GOLDIN:
The AP (your employer) accepts millions of dollars in bribe money from the Quisling Puppet Biden regime to spread deliberate fake news. The AssPress is an extreme far left pro-communist organization. They print lies, lies, lies, to help promote the filthy left wing agenda. /spit
As if there were not hundreds of Pro Russian trolls - some of whom even admit they are Russian - on this site, dutifully spewing and posting disinformation, misinformation right from the FSB offices in St Petersburg, Russia.
Worse, federal court orders have facilitated the Democrats in their efforts to get legal and illegal immigrants registered as voters so they can vote for Biden. Again and again, on the rare occasions when caught and prosecuted, the common refrain of such non-citizen illegal voters is that election officials did not effectively warn them that they could not legally register and vote if they were not citizens.
