Lessons learned.
1) Don’t mess with Texas. There are rules and they follow those rules.
2) Go Fund Me so I don’t have to pay for my mistakes. Good luck with that.
3) Get some cheese to go with that annoying whine.
As you are getting the book to read for free, you have a responsibility to return it in the time you are allotted to have it. Or renew it if possible.
Otherwise, get it back to the library so that others can read it.
I do not have a lot of sympathy for unreturned library books.
I have never been late returning mine.
One time however, my dog, a border collie/shepherd mix, bit repeatedly on the corner of a Civil War book called "What This Cruel War Was Over".
I sheepishly returned the dog-bitten book to the library and accepted my fate. It cost me $20 so that the library could obtain a new copy. I was allowed to take the damaged book home and it now resides in my library, a reminder of the indiscretion of my border collie/shepherd mix (name of "Dixie").
Wait she was too pregnant to return the book, but could move? And couldn’t send a kid to return the book? For a year? And what’s the list price on this book? Some school books are really expensive. This might not be just an overdue book.
That escalated quickly!
FINALLY got her.
In the meantime, libraries are downsizing book collections by the thousands... irony.
The local library in our previous town regularly fined us for books that had been returned on time. In every case we had the librarian on duty follow us to the books location on the shelf and they admitted it was their fault and removed the fine. A lot of library worker are lazy.
Nowadays, when you count in gas and driving time and inconvenience, it’s almost cheaper to buy a used book on eBay for $4 with shipping than it is to go to the library. Plus, you then own the book.
Plus a lot of good books are in the public domain and you can download them for free on https://www.gutenberg.org/ or https://archive.org/. Archive.org has audiobooks and movies and more.
This judge should be kicked off the bench IMHO.
What’s going on with that judge? Does she resent all homeschool parents? Is she jealous that this woman has several children AND a husband living with the family?
Does this judge have blue hair?
