PALM BEACH, Fla. (NewsNation) — With dueling events this weekend, some of the nation’s biggest GOP donors will have to choose between former President Donald Trump or former presidential candidate Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.
Trump is expected to attend a major joint fundraiser between his campaign and the RNC on Saturday. A campaign source confirmed to NewsNation that it will be hosted at a private residence in Palm Beach.
Expectations are high for Trump to offset President Joe Biden’s recent $25 million fundraiser, with the Trump campaign anticipating an estimated $43 million fundraising haul Saturday. That’s an effort that could be hindered by another just about an hour north.
Fight Right was one of two PACs DeSantis had backing him during his failed 2024 presidential bid. Fight Right officials tell NewsNation the investor retreat has been scheduled for more than two months and had nothing to do with Trump’s fundraiser.
The PAC is hosting the weekend event to thank donors who contributed to DeSantis’ 2024 presidential campaign.
An itinerary shows DeSantis will speak at The Future of Florida panel on Friday. On Saturday morning, investors are expected to provide feedback on what went wrong with DeSantis’ presidential campaign. Florida first lady Casey DeSantis will host a lunch that afternoon, followed by a “Fireside Chat” with DeSantis on Saturday night.
Sources close to the Trump campaign tell NewsNation they anticipate donors will skip out on the governor’s Saturday remarks at the investor retreat to attend Trump’s fundraiser in Palm Beach.
Additionally, a Trump campaign official said the DeSantis-aligned event is “competing with the entire Republican cause” as GOP leaders push to unify donors behind their presumptive presidential nominee.

He already took Republican donors for a half a billion dollar ride. That’s money that could have gone towards the general election. But apparently that wasn’t bad enough for DeSantis. DeSantis is a snake in the grass.

Here yet again, the guy should clearly re-schedule as he is costing himself money.
I get the confusion, it’s not like the guy just blew a billion dollars in a sham primary that was over three years ago.
Since DeSantis event was already scheduled, why did Trump schedule his at the same time, this is his problem, not DeSantis. Maybe, Trump still has some bad people working for him that are too incompetent to work out non-conflicting dates for his events.

This is a non issue for me as a supporter of the 45th President. DeSantis can thank his people for supporting his failed campaign, without me caring one bit.
However, I’d rather talk about something else.

I wrote donor event. Whether they are fundraising or not, it is still a donor event if he is meeting with donors.
They aren’t there just for thank yous with the words “Investor Retreat” the organizers are using.
If he was smart he wouldn’t be doing any of this during an election where Trump is on the verge of winning. He would have just said, sorry, not AT THIS TIME, I already suspeneded my campaign and promised to focus 100% on Florida.
DeSanctus is already trying again for 2028, and will predictably fail again.

- Raising Florida’s energy rates by 23% while receiving millions in campaign cash from FPL.
- Passing legislation that makes it harder to sue home insurers in Florida, and preventing Floridians who win their cases from recovering attorney fees, all while receiving millions in donations from the insurance industry.
- Rolling back Florida’s “sunshine laws” in order to hide the extent to which Florida taxpayers financed his presidential campaign.
