President Biden informed his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, of the US position on several issues during a call Tuesday, the White House said; Xi’s response was essentially, “F-U.” No, Xi didn’t use those exact terms. But close enough.
Biden emphasized the importance of “peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait,” “the rule of law and freedom of navigation in the South China Sea” and America’s “commitment” to denuclearizing North Korea, the White House reported.
And he raised “concerns” over climate change, China’s “support for Russia’s defense industrial base” and its “unfair trade policies,” etc., etc. Yet Xi, per Beijing’s readout afterward, “stressed” that Taiwan was a “red line that must not be crossed.”

IF Biden wins, I expect to see a lot of Chinese flags in DC.
I have heard no American President make the argument that tells the truth about the issue of Taiwan.
In the world as it is, the issue of Taiwan is not an existential matter to any true “national interest” of China, its people.
It is primarily a matter of supreme political interest to the CCPP. Taiwan not being ruled by the dictatorship of the CCP is an affront - to the CCP.
Were mainland China like Taiwan, a true multiparty democracy, the folks on the mainland and the folks on Taiwan would have resolved any issues between them many years ago.
The fact that the people of Taiwan do not want to submit to the dictatorship of the CCP MUST be respected.
Xi probably looks forward to these calls like he looks forward to a toothache.
How are you suggesting that these wants of the Taiwanese be respected?
By at a minimum the CCP leaving the status quo alone, permanently respecting Taiwan’s independent political path.
The CCP does not want to to do that, just as they decided to crush Hong Kong, because their democratic Chinese soscities are an affront, a political affront to the CCP.

Xi installed Biden as his puppet. Biden has worked out pretty good for him. The call was just Biden’s yearly merit review.
