A 4.8-magnitude earthquake shook the New York City area Friday morning, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
The epicenter of the earthquake was in Lebanon, N.J., according to USGS.
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) said it was felt throughout the state.
“My team is assessing impacts and any damage that may have occurred, and we will update the public throughout the day,” her office said on social media.
The New York City Fire Department said it had no reports of damage at this time.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams’s office also said he was briefed on the situation.
“While we do not have any reports of major impacts at this time, we’re still assessing the impact,” his office said on social media.

Maybe this quake was a ‘precursor’...
See post 17.
Trump’s fault. But thankfully, NY has the right people in place to get over this incident. /supersarc
Hochul blamed the earthquake on racist white people.
;-)
Epicenter near the Mountains in NJ.
Yes, it’s called the Ramapo Fault, runs through the Hudson River....
I live in Long Island and felt it for about 5 seconds.
I wouldn’t want to be underneath a lot of them.
Dutchsinse has been forecasting earthquakes for years.
Here is a link to a live report that he’s going to have in a couple of minutes on this morning’s US east coast earthquake.

Evidently it was felt from Jersey through Albany
Let the countdown start for the two trillion dollar emergency relief supplemental appropriation from Biden. Targeted to big cities in the NE.
If only such a quake could double (or more) and be localized to NYC...and all without warning...

This is the 2nd one I experienced. The first one was in 1986 when i was in college. I stayed at my grandmothers on the weekends and worked on a golf course. About 5:30 in the morning everything started shaking and it felt like an explosion. This was about 20 minutes north of NYChitty
My grandmother was a lifelong resident of Harrison- then a very Italian neighborhood. I looked out the window and there were all these old men with flashlights, trying to figure out what had just happened.
“I wish it were 8.4”
Demonic much? Only a demon would wish death on innocent people they don’t even know.
Own it.
Thanks for more info on this 4.8 earthquake.
Fairly answered.
She's back from retirement and touring in New York!!
