Multiple buildings collapse in Hualien, Taiwan after USGS reports magnitude 7.4 earthquake
Tsunami warning in Okinawa , Japan !
IIRC that’s pretty big.
Camera facing Taipei skyline shows massive shaking after powerful 7.5 magnitude earthquake hits near Taiwan

Yes , but the epicenter was out in the sea many miles from land . Probably deep as well , unlike the 2 in 28 hours we had here in Kumamoto 8 years ago ; just 10km deep and epicenter was just down the road from where we live ! Wife had PTSD for years afterwards .
That’s nothing compared to the biggies we’ve had in Japan .
7.4 and a 6.5, that second one possibly an aftershock and shallower...
I bet those people in those tall buildings need a change of drawers.
Sorry to hear, so hard on everyone involved over time. Sounds like she did recover, hopefully.

I’ve seen nothing comparable to that Christmas tsunami you had a number of years ago.
Taipei was 3 on the Japanese intensity scale .
3 =
Perceptible to everyone indoors. Frightens some people. Objects inside rattle noticeably and can fall from raised surfaces. Overhead power lines sway. Perceptible to people outdoors. Houses may shake intensely. Light damage possible to homes with low earthquake resistance. Light damage to older buildings with low earthquake resistance. Light damage possible to earthquake-resistant buildings.
Definitely a big quake. Hope most people survive.
The closer to water you live, the bigger the chance you get hurt. I lived through several quakes in San Francisco, and safest place was atop Nob Hill. People close to the beach really rocked and rolled and things broke while hill dwellers just bounced up and down once.
We got hit with a 6.2 and a 7 within 28 hours . Everything that didn’t fall to the floor the first time did the second time . We moved into our newly built house 2 weeks earlier !

I’ve been through several earthquakes that frightened everyone around me and caused minor damage. I never noticed any of them.
Makes me sick just looking
