Former Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, who left the Democratic Party in 2022, declined an offer to be Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s running mate in his independent presidential bid, she tells ABC News.
"I met with Kennedy several times, and we have become good friends," she said in a statement. "He asked if I would be his running mate. After careful consideration, I respectfully declined."
Gabbard declined to explain why she turned down that offer, which has not previously been reported.
She is among an eclectic group of people whom Kennedy had considered for the role, including former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura and TV host Mike Rowe.
He announced at an Oakland, California, rally last week that he had chosen Silicon Valley lawyer Nicole Shanahan, whose younger age, work in health and artificial intelligence appealed to him.

Smart.
Is that so? Her mother is from Illinois and her father, like her, was born in American Samoa and lived in Hawaii and served as a Hawaiian state senator.
So what?
They never seem to bat an eye at that restriction. No matter how much or how little foriegn spice attended their birth.
They figure, as long as they pass the Mark Levin test, they’re an NBC.
To wit:
U.S. NBC = Anyone born anywhere in the universe other than those born overseas to two non-U.S. citizens.
“...whose younger age, work in health and artificial intelligence, [AND MONEY] appealed to him.”
Sovereigns trade unincorporated territories like baseball cards.
So John McCain wasn’t an NBC?
Besides, that question was already answered when McCain ran for President. He was born in Panama.
Maybe Obama told her “You’re no more ineligible to be President that I am.” đ
As Obama heard in Kenya as a toddler:
Ukizaliwa Marekani ungekua Rais huko. Hakuna bahati kama hiyo.

English:If you were born in America you could have grown up to be President there. No such luck.
That’s still in question.

While American Samoa is a âterritoryâ of the United States, it is not an âincorporated territory.â This is the same issue that faced Sen. John McCain in 2008, when he faced off against Monsieur Obama as discussed here. Among several issues in McCainâs case was whether he was born at the Coco Solo Naval Air Station hospital, a U.S. military base in the Panama Canal Zone, or whether he was born in a hospital in ColĂłn, Panama, which has never has been a part of the United States.
Tulsi still has a future. RFK Junior doesn’t.
Didn’t seem to slow down McCain much. Goldwater wouldn’t have been eligible at birth, George Romney and Ted Cruz have the same problem.
Doesn’t matter. As long as one parent is an American citizen where isn’t an issue.
I’ve had idiots here proclaim it has to be American soil. Another tried to argue only the 48 continental states.
I counted with why not only the 13 original colonies. The moron agreed.
The Constitution is written in English.
So he picked another commie running mate instead.
Goldwater was born in a incorporated US territory. As for Tulsi, not so!
Good. She is too far right.
I just watched X-Files Jose Chung last night. Kinda funny to see Jesse Ventura mentioned today as a possible running mate for RFK Jr.
“You probably thought you saw something up in the sky other than Venus, but I assure you, it was Venus”.
Be funny if he was chosen and got to see the real dope on UFO’s.
Oh that’s right. I mean ‘Venus’.
obama don’t care ‘bout no constitution
