Trump Is Financially Ruining the Republican Party (the party that funded Lisa Murkowski's reelection)
New York Times ^ | 3/31/24 | Michelle Cottle

Donald Trump is someone you should think carefully about hitching your financial fortunes to. The guy is a gifted carnival barker, no doubt. But when it comes to serious business, he is a bad bet. Many of his ventures, from vodka and steaks to casinos and “university” degrees, have flopped like dying fish. Declaring corporate bankruptcy seems to be one of his favorite hobbies. And even when he wriggles away from failure largely unscathed, the other parties involved aren’t always so fortunate. Where money is involved, anyone still foolish enough to crawl into bed with him should be prepared for the experience to end in tears.

Which leads me to gently note: Hey, Republican Party, pay attention! You are being herded toward potential financial ruin. The red flags are smacking you in the face. Wake up and smell the grift!

Translation: "Trump is not asking for money from Lobbyists and Corporate Big Wigs in exchange for pork. Trump is raising money from grass roots donors."

You bet the gravy train is over.

ROFLOL. THE RNC GETS 20% OF TRUMP’S FUNDRAISING. I DON’T LIKE IT, THEY USE IT TO REFLECT RINOS.

Take it up with Trump's daughter-in-law. She's in charge of where the money gets spent.

I am leery of sending any money unless I know for certain it goes directly to TRUMPS campaign, GD GOP is constantly asking for money so they can give it to losers like Murkowski.

Do you know a reliable site to send TRUMP a couple hundred dollars?

Do you know a reliable site to send TRUMP a couple hundred dollars?

Trump's official fundraising website:

https://www.donaldjtrump.com

It redirects you to a WinRed site paid for by the Trump Save America Joint Fundraising Committee, a joint fundraising committee composed of and authorized by Donald J. Trump for President 2024, Inc. and Save America (which is paying Trump's legal bills).

It doesn't get more reliable than this, short of walking up to Donald Trump himself and handing him a $100 bill.

but as to the GOP, yes, in EVERY quarter the Dims are hugely getting far more dollars into their campaigns.

Quarterly fundraising numbers should be released sometime next week. Expect these numbers will not look good for the GOP. The Democrats, however, are swimming in money.

Many people here believe that Trump does not need money to campaign. I suspect Trump disagrees.

President Trump had nothing to do with Murkowski's reelection. That was all Mitch McConnell's doing, who spent $5.5 million in attack ads against the Alaska Republican Party's choice of Kelly Tshibaka.

Alaska's Republican Party censured McConnell for "directly contradicting" the party's endorsement of Tshibaka.

Somehow Drew I think you are sitting on your wallet BECAUSE you have a very bad case of TDS!! DeSantis is back to doing a GREAT JOB of running his state, Trump IS THE MAN for this time, all the Dem money in the world can’t change that!! The HUGE problem now is can we have an HONEST election!!!

The GOP is a fringe party, 27% of the electorate. The Dems are the same, 27%.

Independents have become ascendant and are the bulk of the electorate.

The GOP doesn’t like to talk about this. Who wants to give money to an org that steadily loses its portion of the electorate.

But we need to slow down on all that. The new GOP management is cutting off all the real grifters who leached there for years. Now, it is MAGA candidates who will be funded, and all of a sudden they will get donations.

(the party that funded Lisa Murkowski's reelection)

Not exactly - that was the NRSC - different entity, on which Lisa Murkowski is and was a sitting member of the committee...since there is no longer a party primary or party nominee in Alaska that no longer effects that.

Her consideration of leaving the party after it spent so many resources to keep her seat on that very committee speaks volumes as to her integrity.

And this article is garbage as the fundraising will likely improve under the new leadership.

She isn’t wrong. Donations to Republicans have collapsed since 2016. Every successive election fewer & fewer. Those contributions & funds are pretty much necessary to win elections. The Demoidiots are getting bigger donations than ever. This article us obviously by a lib trying to rub it in our faces, but reality is still reality: something massive changed when we elected Trump. Everybody keeps wondering why we are losing elections- even ones we should be winning easily. This is a massive part of why.

I don’t care how much people here try & tell themselves that they are triumphing on some microscopic level by shrugging their shoulders, boycotting elections & shouting down establishment stooges. A loss is still a loss. We haven’t really had an election strategy since 2016, other than ‘elect Trump’. It’s a lousy plan for trying to change direction or prevent disaster. We can’t change course with one man in one office or without a coalition & if nobody passes our ideological test- we will never win 🙄

It most certainly did indeed help her...though she didn't win.

Money alone does not win a political battle - but it most certainly does help enormously. And there were indeed adequate resources for Trump to run national ads including during the World Series, and even 2 minute ads in battleground states with his closing message. And the RNC had plenty of funds in 2016 to fully fund a masterful GOTV operation which swamped the Democrats. Priebus was a horrible White House Chief of Staff, but was an excellent CEO of a political operation. It's all been downhill since 2016 with funding and organization.

Correct. Look at the pro-abortion initiatives passed in conservative, pro-life states. The Leftists had mountains of cash to control the narrative and messaging - amazingly good ad campaign portraying radical pro-abortion policies as the “family values vote” - warm and fuzzy ads featuring smiling kids, grandmas, clergy, etc. The conservative side had very little funding and could not counter this false narrative hardly at all. In Kentucky, it was an uphill battle already with a far-leftist governor with approvals in the mid 60s, which he bolstered with an ad campaign propping himself up and defining his opponent before he could define himself who only raised a fraction of the funds - basically portraying him as not caring if young girls get raped. Also look at our Senate candidates in 2022 and it was the same story - they were left twisting in the wind while the Dem base worked their tails off and forked over the cash while the GOP base sat on their behinds and kept their wallets closed - whether they be “MAGA candidates” or establishment candidates - the story was the same.
