A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a stabbing spree Wednesday afternoon in Rockford, Illinois, that left four people dead, including a U.S. postal worker and a teenage girl, and seven other victims injured, police said.
The suspect, Christian Soto, was arrested in the frenzied attack, according to the Rockford Police Department. Soto faces four counts of murder and seven counts of attempted murder, as well as two counts of home invasion with a dangerous weapon, authorities said.
A motive for the attack remains under investigation, police said.
The names of the slain victims were not immediately released, but police said they include a 15-year-old girl, a 63-year-old woman, a 49-year-old man, and a 22-year-old man. One of the victims was said to be in critical condition, with four others in serious condition.
"Words can't even express my thoughts right now; this is a pretty painstaking event," Rockford Police Chief Carla Redd said at a news conference Wednesday, adding, "This was a heinous crime."

Mother is quoted saying he’s such a nice boy and everyone’s in shock etc. Some minor scrapes with the law, one arrest for damaging property, traffic tickets.
I listened to the press conference. He ran over the mailman twice which killed him, and took a baseball bat to the head of the 15-yr old girl which killed her.

My family lived in the Rockford area for 15 years, and in Rockford proper for half of that. We went to St. Mary Oratory (Institute of Christ the King) and I worked at TAN Books.
There is a lot of good about many of the people, and it was affordable. It has been on the edge for decades. Decades of local stupid political decisions were bad enough. I knew that legalized slot machines and recreational pot would push it over the edge. Very, very, very sad.
I lived less than a mile from the area. Alpine Road is perpetually plagued with potholes. Rockford Blacktop has a monopoly on road repairs and they use low grade materials.
Mayor seems like a nice chap. He was really broken up about this atrocity.
Again, I want to know everything about the monster that did this. Exceedingly cruel in his attack. This was not just a sudden reaction to cannabis. There’s a cause here that’s much darker.

During WWII industry in Rockford was delivering over 2,000,000 various types of fasteners every single day. They held planes, tanks, ships, and submarines together along with the myriad other products this country used to be able to produce in massive quantities.
So while your play on words is clever to a degree, what’s been done quite deliberately to American industry isn’t the least bit funny.
