By all accounts, President Trump’s search for a running mate is entering the home stretch.
And just like that, four of the 12 leading contenders that Axios profiled just two weeks ago are out—for now, anyway.
Many expect Trump to choose a woman, a black, or a Hispanic to be his running mate, operating on the thesis that Trump just needs more diversity points to get over the hump next fall.
We will, of course, support President Trump, no matter his choice. We want Trump to win in 2024, and we want his political revolution to win in the annals of history. Making the right call for vice president is crucial to both of those desires. And in Revolver’s view, simply picking a “diverse” candidate is not the way to go. Instead, the answer is clear: Among the names still being considered for the role of Donald Trump’s running mate, Sen. J.D. Vance leads the pack.
Most reports have Trump down to a small stable of likely picks, and on Tuesday, Bloomberg released a report that, if true, narrows the field even more:
Donald Trump has ruled out Vivek Ramaswamy as his running mate and is instead eyeing the entrepreneur for a Cabinet job, according to people familiar with the matter, as the Republican presidential nominee sizes up a possible administration.
Trump personally told Ramaswamy he won’t be his vice presidential pick, according to people briefed on the discussion, but is considering him for posts including Homeland Security secretary.

Trump is known to change his mind about personnel and policy, but for now, he isn’t satisfied with his roster of vice presidential possibilities. Stefanik, the No. 3 House Republican, is seen as lacking a national profile, fundraising base, or ability to deliver her home of New York state, a long-held pipe dream for Trump,...

Buckle Up is right!
It’s should be someone so far right it’s not funny. So if they try to deny his win, like their plotting a president will enter office who they really don’t like
Alex Jones...LOL!
From Wikipedia:
In 2011, Ramaswamy was awarded a post-graduate fellowship by the Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans, which he used to attend Yale Law School.[31] Later, Ramaswamy said that by the time he attended Yale, he was already wealthy from his activities in the finance, pharmaceutical, and biotech industries; he said in 2023 that he had a net worth of around $15 million before graduating from law school.[27]

So he didn't need the money—he just agreed with the Soros group and its goals.
Vivek paid to get rid of multiple things from Wikipedia, including his closeness with an mRNA person and the Soros Foundation:
Not loyal enough to help give you money.
Sorry, using my iPad and auto correction keeps messing it up. Ramaswamy has refused to help Trump campaign, no funding. Guess Trump didn’t promise him enough.
It is? Please give me a link to The Soros Foundation. You made reference (post 44) to a fine credible fellowship by Paul and Daisy Soros. But your intent in post 8 was to associate Vivek with George and his Open Foundation.

Allen West? Is it the Allen West from Florida? Or the Allen West from Texas?
Yes, one and the same, Lt. Col (ret) Allen West who was gerrymandered out of his Florida House seat who has moved to Texas where he served as Chairman of the Texas GOP for a time. He mounted a half-hearted campaign for governor which I thought at the time was more of an attempt to raise his profile and name-awareness among Texas voters as no one was going to unseat Abbott. He is my choice to replace John Cornyn in the Senate in 2 years. People in these parts are touting Attorney General Ken Paxton to take on Cornyn or succeed Cornyn if he decides not to seek reelection but he has more than his share of legal and political baggage. Allen West is a true Conservative and would be great in any political or cabinet position.
We don’t need another George Herbert Walker Bush.
Has Trump said one word about who he is thinking of?
Vivek is a scumbag pharmabro con artist, who plagiarized his speeches from Obama.
I’m not a Vivek fan but that guy in tenacious. Works really hard.
Vance has only been a Senator for a year. Bad optics to run for higher office so fast.
The same applies to Ark governor Sanders.
Sounds like a description of J.D. Vance.
Could you live with automatically losing the 30 Florida electoral votes? Check the Constitution.
YUP!
“No. Take no GOP sitting senator and risk a Senate seat in the election. Someone is unthinkingly promoting J.D. Vance and not considering larger consequences.”
Correct. Plus JD Vance is a Never Trumper who is only pretending to like Trump. He will stab Trump in the back the second it is advantageous to him.
Correct but it also means that the 30 Florida votes can't be counted for them in the electoral college. Election 2024 is too important to pick Trump and another Floridian and hope that they can still make up the automatic loss of Florida electors in the Electoral Vote Count.
Now replacing Cornyn with West is an idea I can get behind. But it just seemed to me that the idea of his coming from Florida into Texas was a little too much like carpet bagging
