A New York appeals court paused for 10 days a massive civil fraud judgment against former President Donald Trump.

The court also and sharply reduced the bond he would have to post to obtain a longer stay to $175 million.

Trump’s lawyers in a court filing last week said that it was “impossible” for him to get an appeal bond of $454 million to satisfy the judgment in that amount, having approached more than 30 surety companies without success.

A New York appeals court on Monday paused for 10 days a massive civil fraud judgment against former President Donald Trump, and sharply reduced the bond he would have to post to obtain a longer stay to $175 million.

Trump’s lawyers in a court filing last week said that it was “impossible” for him to get an appeal bond of $454 million to satisfy the judgment in that amount, having approached more than 30 surety companies without success.

None of those companies were willing to write a bond without Trump posting cash or some other liquid asset, the attorneys wrote in their filing with the Manhattan Supreme Court appellate division panel.

Because of the size of the fraud judgment, the companies insisted that Trump show “cash reserves approaching $1 billion,” according to his lawyers. But neither Trump nor the Trump Organization company has that amount of cash on hand, the filing said.

I thought she wanted Trump Tower to turn it into a Pancake, Waffle and African Hairdo place. New Yawk is going to need one once the African Slaves start getting their “reparations” checks.

Probably...Kevin from Shark Tank said...bonds of 5 mil or 10 mil happen...but $454 mil...wouldn’t even be considered.

“If I understood Eric Trump correctly, he had pointed out on FN that Trump’s original 8th Amendment violating (imo) bond was a record-breaking high amount. Is that still the case with reduced amount?”

He would still have that argument for the judgment, since that’s still $350-odd million plus interest, but I don’t know that he needs to appeal the bond requirement now to the Court of Appeals. He can write a check and still try, but the NY COA takes even fewer cases than the SCOTUS.

“Judge Engoron has refused to obey the decision of the Appellate Division relative to the Statute of Limitations. This is a confrontation between a Judge and those that rule above him - A very bad situation in which to place New York State and the Rule of Law! Engoron has disrespected the Appellate Division and its very clear and precise ruling. He should be made to do so, and at the same time, release the GAG ORDER. This is the 5th time in this case that he has been overturned, a record. His credibility, and that of Letitia James, has been shattered. We will abide by the decision of the Appellate Division, and post either a bond, equivalent securities, or cash. This also shows how ridiculous and outrageous Engoron’s original decision was at $450 Million. I DID NOTHING WRONG, AND NEW YORK SHOULD NEVER BE PUT IN A POSITION LIKE THIS AGAIN. BUSINESSES ARE FLEEING, VIOLENT CRIME IS FLOURISHING, AND IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT THIS BE RESOLVED IN ITS TOTALITY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. THANK YOU!”

They got chicken! I noticed this weekend the news mediafake outlets were screaming at the top of their lungs that this situation would get Trump reelected if they went through with it. I guess the judges heard their orders loud and clear and decided to back off. STILL this case should have been thrown out!

... ruling came the same day that New York Attorney General Letitia James would have been allowed to start seizing Trump’s real estate and bank accounts to satisfy the $454 million-and-rising business fraud judgment in the case.

Black trash AG Letitia James has given New York City the stench of a third world dump.

This ruling was early. Last I heard it wouldn’t be until next week for the ruling to come down.
