As Donald Trump faces a Monday deadline to post a $454 million bond in the civil fraud case against him in New York, insiders said he may be weighing a little-discussed option: Do nothing.
The ex-president reportedly has been struggling to raise the cash for the bond — either from banks or wealthy friends — with his lawyers claiming on Monday that it was a “practical impossibility.”
While some reports have raised speculation that Trump may “go nuclear” with a Chapter 11 filing to protect his prize real estate assets across Manhattan, experts said bankruptcy would create unwelcome complications as the 2024 election season comes to a head.
“He’s been there and done that,” one insider close to Trump said, dismissing the prospect of a Chapter 11 filing.

It would be a hoot to watch if President Trump filled it up with Biden’s “miggies” before Letitia Wakanda sends her Wankanda Forever Warriors and their Kwanzaaettes to take possession of it. LOL.
Might be a good strategy if the value it the appraised amount.
My money’s gonna be on Trump on this one.
The rest of the residential units are all owned individually by their occupants.
This might actually be a brilliant move on Trump's part. If the State of New York seizes Trump's assets in New York, they will be required to document a fixed value of them to determine how much they are worth compared to the fine he owes. Once they do that, the State of New York and the prosecution team will be exposed to the same civil charges they brought against Trump for "fraudulent" real estate appraisals.
I think venezuela stole the refineries this way ...
They deliberately gave him a very short time to pay it so they could seize his property. I think Trump wants everyone to see what tyranny looks like and this is certainly it.
Freepers have been so wrong about the leftists losing.
Wishful thinking. Nobody is going to stop doing business in New York over this. That would have happened long ago if it was the case. The Marxist Democrats are getting a mulligan on assaulting President Trump and his supporters. It seems he has few allies willing to help us, too.
‘Titia Tower’
Yep.
The only way that happens is if there is a gun on the other end.
If this country keeps allowing this type of tyranny to fester...it deserves what it gets.
Shark Tank investments will steer clear. He was on Gutfeld last night. He sure doesn’t like it.
Additionally, the pure headache of having to oversee something like Trump Towers will be a nightmare for a dolt like Letitia. It will be a literal and PR disaster for her/NY.
Clearly being denied Due Process.
“Nobody is going to stop doing business in New York over this.”
Probably correct—but the context matters.
New York City is in the middle of a commercial real estate crisis (like many big cities) and investors may choose to place their bets elsewhere going forward.
Once the lawfare precedent is established the wealthy would be fools to trust New York state to act differently than a third world country—reward its friends and punish its enemies.
The question now is, will they now value the properties on what they said were overvalued prices during the court case or will they have to use the actual real estate values the market and banks decide.
If they use the actual real estate values, that essentially negates their case from the top down, because they will be higher than what they prosecuted Trump for lying about.................
Shark Tank investments will steer clear. He was on Gutfeld last night. He sure doesn’t like it.
And sickening.
I hope so.
Nothing to do with justice. This is a black woman feeling her oats. Payback for Whitey. Prove me wrong. Show me the crime.
It’s actually starting to look like that is the plan, as he doesn’t seem to be making any effort to file an 8th amendment plea to a federal court over the excessiveness of the fine, which most legal experts have said he should have a good chance of winning.
Therefore it appears he’s going more with a political strategy, of further exposing their unfairness, and attempting to garner sympathy from it, than spending any more money on the legal fight by striking up a new case.
Maybe his own legal experts have told him he doesn’t actually stand a good chance of winning an 8th amendment appeal, but it’s still a question that needs to be asked if he’s not going to do it.
