New FBI data confirms previous indications that crime in the U.S. declined significantly in 2023, continuing a post-pandemic trend and belying widespread perceptions that crime is rising.
The new fourth-quarter numbers showed a 13% decline in murder in 2023 from 2022, a 6% decline in reported violent crime and a 4% decline in reported property crime. That’s based on data from around 13,000 law enforcement agencies, policing about 82% of the U.S. population, that provided the FBI with quarterly data through December.
“It suggests that when we get the final data in October, we will have seen likely the largest one-year decline in murder that has ever been recorded,” said Jeff Asher, a former CIA analyst who now studies crime trends.
In October, the FBI will release its final and most comprehensive look at crime in 2023.

What I’m thinking.....also, I bet a lot of crimes are not being reported.
When you get near the end of the asymptote, the rate decreases.
Just doing the bidding of the leftist masters. Don’t report and don’t prosecute crimes and BAM! Crime rate going down!
This is pure BS if you simply look at the border alone. How many millions of crimes are committed there every day?

The criminals are not being charged! Or they’re given a lesser charge and released. Or the city has fewer cops, hence fewer arrests. Doh!
And they changed the definition of what is a crime in many places.

Just make them non-crimes and the crime rate goes down ipso facto.

The national stats are bogus because they forced an update to a new system called NIBRS and less than 50% of all police departments have transitioned to it, so the data is incomplete and they intentionally don’t want to have it.
Crime has dropped so much it’s now safe to send the National Guard into the subway.
The FBI revised its reporting system in 2021, just as BLM riots caused police departments to be “defunded”. Most (defunded) jurisdictions still have not adopted the revised format. The FBI “estimates” the missing data. Believe your own eyes and your own broken car window, the FBI is covering for the criminals, the DHS is covering for the cartels, Biden’s ice cream is made from the blood of crime victims.

Theirs may be the most dangerous of the corruption.
Just attribute it to the increase in constitutional carry and they’ll revise the figures upward.
