Amid the West's continued support of Ukraine, the threat of nuclear escalation with Russia has been ever-present as the Kremlin tries to deter further NATO involvement.
While there is no indication of an impending nuclear clash between Russia and NATO, the results would be catastrophic, according to the "Plan A" simulation published by Princeton's Science and Global Security program, which estimates there would be 91.5 million casualties within hours of a nuclear conflict and many more in the following months and years.
A Russian nuclear attack on the U.S. would aim to cut essential command and control communications channels, destroy key industrial and commercial zones, cripple nuclear assets, and incapacitate American military and political leadership.

Something that preppers have been warning. Chaos within the population centers would be much easier to achieve, than a heavy barrage of nukes.
Simply take out utilities such as electricity, water, and food supplies, and the cities will destroy themselves. Our military would be in disarray, confused about how to best retaliate. It is anyones guess what would the future hold for us.
Then there's your scenario, where liberal policies make cities rot from within. Same outcome.

Russia only has to set off a minor nuke near blue state cities and the locals in those cities will destroy them on their own.

And would miss by a light year. Our system is designed to go independent for retaliation so they can’t stop it. Intial Nuclear attack by either the US or Russia is worthless. All the targets have been in the system for a few generations.
If you had the opportunity to watch the movie Wargames, all the scenario listings running on the computer were every planned nuclear strikes there are, hundreds. That was why the computer said there was no winner, so why play the game.
This article is manure and is an effort to scare the public when the people have no say in it anyway. These are world leaders playing monopoly with real buildings. (Or the destruction of them)

I don't know the age of the nuke red dot target map, but the dots in the 4 corners targeting the used to be power plants need to be erased. The power plants, both coal burning were targets of the wienie democrat environment nazi's and essentially got shut down.

Russia is not going to nuke us or go to war against us. They are culturally and phisophically very close to us. china on the other hand cares nothing for us, our traditions, or our culture and they would be glad to get us out of the way.
