Letters from the now deceased America.
A couple of years ago, I actually got a letter from the IRS.
It arrived in my mailbox and it terrified me when I saw the envelope.
I was expecting a small refund but instead got a letter.
I had forgotten to sign the 1040!
They wanted me to sign a copy and send it to them which I did.
Then several weeks later I got another letter.
They found a MISTAKE on my form!
I had not taken a deduction that they said I qualified for, so I actually was going to get a BIGGER refund, by a few dollars.
Why they didn’t do this before they sent the first letter and saved themselves some time I don’t know...............

Ditto. I have a relatively simple tax return and mostly ignore all the various mentions to view documents mentioned in form 1040. On a side note if you are over 65 and file a 1040SR the standard deduction is a couple grand over last years amount...
