Same. Telemetry from the booster shows only a couple of the motors trying to light... one stays on... then boom... signal lost. Not sure if impact or kaboom. Considering that at least 3-4 of them tried to light... my odds on bet are kaboom.

It looked like the fin-grids were trying to stabilize it like they do on the Falcon 9 boosters. The Starship booster is significantly bigger, but you’d think the same operating principle should apply.

They have how many more ready to try? 3? I’d be willing to bet that the next launch has either one or both sections making a “mostly intact” landing.

I’ve figured that NASA will be able to get its Mars return samples from the Space X gift shop. If they buy in bulk, they won’t have to pay shipping.

It did not look like it was oriented properly for reentry, but the single camera view is less than helpful.
