March 9, 2024 Release Number 20240309 – 02 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
TAMPA, Fla. – Following further engagements through the morning, U.S. and Coalition forces downed a total of at least 28 uncrewed aerial vehicles between 4:00 a.m. and 8:20 a.m. (Sanaa time) on March 9.
No U.S. or Coalition Navy vessels were damaged in the attack and there were also no reports by commercial ships of damage.
US and Coalition Defeat Houthi Attack in Red Sea Area Between 4 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. (Sanaa time), Iranian-backed Houthi terrorists conducted a large-scale uncrewed aerial vehicle (UAV) attack into the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. CENTCOM and coalition forces identified the one-way attack (OWA) UAVs and determined that they presented an imminent threat to merchant vessels, U.S. Navy, and coalition ships in the region. U.S. Navy vessels and aircraft along with multiple coalition navy ships and aircraft shot down 15 OWA UAVs. These actions are taken to protect freedom of navigation and make international waters safer and more secure.
I believe the Houthis claim 37 drones were sent to attack the US ships and 2 missiles were fired at a US cargo ship, the "Propel Fortune." Evidently, US ships, a UK ship, and a French ship were involved in the defense. Degree of coordination unknown.
It'd be quite interesting to know if EW resulted in any of the downings.
But the US was defeated on its southern border, as 15 million invaders have essentially taken over the nation without a short being fired by the US military.
The Houthis didn’t destroy US. Why are we fighting them and not our actual enemies?
Why are the Ukraine’s border more important that our own?
Shipping profi.
I thought everyone was going around Africa to avoid the issue. Did that change?
I would think insurance would have an issue with transiting the area…
Defeat is a funny term. Shooting down 28 cheap Yemeni drones with $12 million SM3 missiles may keep our ships from being sunk, but is it really a win? Pretty soon Yemen bankrupts the United States.
Goodness, “profits”.
Impressive.
Making big things that move slow and are made of steel hard to hit.
How many tens of millions of US tax dollars spent to prevail today? How about tomorrow? Any container or LNG ships run the Houthi gauntlet this month?
It was lucky the ship that sunk didn’t get hit worse.
It had 21,000 tons of fertilizer.
There are, by government estimates, about 60-million migrant invader vermin, DACA leeches, and their misbegotten offspring within the borders...
Not “15 million”
15 million is closer to what has invaded just during 2023 & 2024...
These Huns from all over the dregs of the planet now represent about 20% of the U.S. population...
On track to rise to 100 million within three years after the 2024 swindle if the American Communist Party wins again...
Just imagine what life will be like when these scum are 33% of the population...
Those looked like the Iranian drones Russians are using.
Everyone forgets how quickly Trump annihilated ISIS after years of Obama’s feckless actions. The Houthis are the newest pestilence on the block routing for a Biden victory.
ATTACK, REPEAT, ATTACK.
The Houthis are Iranian proxies, armed by Iran.
Because fouling up those shipping routes can (will if this goes on) cause shortages that will ramp inflation back up, which will toast Biden. If I thought I could just “survive” that kind of inflation, it’d maybe be worth it. But what impoverishes me and other Americans will kill a lot of people in poor countries. That’s a pretty tough trade off, ya’ know...
I’d also not be surprised to see some gov’ts fall in Europe, as the effects are considerably greater to them, and I mean FALL, not just a change of PM or party in power, like Labor vs. Tories in UK. That kind of unrest will also have very negative ripple effects for us. Europe’s track record on this sort of thing is pretty disturbing, the present veneer(s) notwithstanding.
Don’t get me wrong, the border is a huge issue. If we don’t get these illegals kicked out, the Dems will have a lock on Federal power for at least a generation. But, let’s be honest: NOTHING Congress does until we get a hardnose on illegal immigration, like Trump, in office, fully backed by Congress this go round, will do any good. Because you know darn well Biden will just subvert it, and short of getting the sort of President I mentioned in office, there’s not a damn thing that can be done about it. Impeach? You think the Senate would convict? Short of a massive terrorist attack that kills MANY thousands, that can firmly be pinned to this Admin., Biden in particular, that isn’t going to happen. And even if it did, then Harris would have to be given the boot too, without HER appointing some successor just as bad or worse.
So... deal with the Houthis now, before the effects begin to really cascade, and as the election goes hot (early fall(?), focus on the border and getting Trump and a sane Congress elected.
How many Houthis were taken out?
We've already lost the war until we can figure out a way to take out the drones cheaply.
American politicians don’t like to protect Americans and America anymore.
