Sen. Katie Britt's, R-Ala., official Republican response to President Joe Biden's State of the Union address Thursday night turned heads — but not for any of the right reasons.
The freshman senator's high-profile rebuttal was stern in its focus on immigration and the state of the economy — two key sticking points against the president — but had a bizarre delivery, according to The Daily Beast. Its dramatic cadence and beige-toned kitchen backdrop left political operatives and observers unsure of what to make of it.
Britt's performance was so unnerving that some Republicans watched "with a grimace," the Daily Beast reports. A GOP strategist even told the outlet that gossip about Britt's delivery quickly circulated among operatives connected to Donald Trump, which could have an impact on her consideration as his running mate.

The response to the SOTU will be a blip in the larger picture of the 2024 election. There is no point in getting hysterical over it, especially reacting to the Daily Beast/Salon echo chamber.
Hopefully, the new RNC leadership will ignore this as noise.

The tone was cringy—seemed overscripted and overpracticed.
It is what you would expect from a first semester drama student.
The content was fine—the delivery was not good.
I didn’t watch it, or the SOTU, but I read it described as an example of Passive Conservativism. And I appreciated that since I really enjoy how Conservatives use an assortment of modifiers to describe Conservativism.
The criticism is an opportunity to improve.
Hopefully she will get much better and become a serious player.

Salon trying everything to take spotlight off Biden’s performance. That said, I didnt particularly care for her speech but I suspect there are reasons they put her up to it.

But, yes, I agree. She did fine. Her response was not directed at red meat Neanderthals, which are found in abundance here.
Although I would have preferred her delivery to have less of a frightened tone, and more of an offended, angered one.

For one, she emphasized the horrible situation of young women trafficked over the border, with sad & graphic description…
She also immediately belied Biden’s usage of the Alabama ‘in vitro fertilization law,’ as the Governor immediately rescinded it…..effectively neutering Biden’s bombastic rhetoric
I thought her soft narrative was a stark contrast to Biden’s ear splitting yelling.
Truly do not understand why she is seen as a failure?

I will have to agree with you. She hit all the hot topic concepts the female mind yearns to talk about: relationships (most of all), shedding tears, husband, kids, school, good and bad times, struggling through, cuddling, etc.
