Trump’s VP search believed to be zeroing in on a trio of senators
The Washington Times ^ | Thursday, March 7, 2024 | Susan Ferrechio and Seth McLaughlin

President Trump is narrowing his choices for a running mate in November and is focused on three young U.S. senators, according to a GOP strategist with close ties to the campaign.

Sens. Katie Britt of Alabama, J.D. Vance of Ohio and Marco Rubio of Florida are the top choices, Ryan Girdusky, a GOP strategist and conservative blogger, said.

Not included on the shortlist: South Dakota Gov, Kristi. Noem, Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina, Arizona Senate candidate Kari Lake, or his former press secretary Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders. Neither Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis nor Mr. Trump’s recently vanquished GOP primary opponent, Nikki Haley, are under consideration.

Lee Zeldin for VP. However, I’m guessing that Trump will pick someone who will poll well with white urban and suburban women. Someone like Tulsi Gabbard. The Democrats and the media are going to make this election about abortion, saving democracy, and abortion again.

Not these three, I hope.

Tim Scott might be a better bet. The GOP would be less likely to lose a seat if he left the Senate.

In other words, in the future, no white man can ever be president again.

That's a misinterpretation.

I think the message was that for the forseeable future, a "balanced" ticket is necessary to avoid the #GOPSoWhite and #GOPSoMale attacks. Trump has to pick up more female voters.

Picking Rubio would be problematic from an elector standpoint. Constitutionally electors are forbidden to vote for a Prez & VPrez from the same state. They could either vote for Trump or Cruz but not both. In a close electoral count, it could be a problem. Conceivably you could end up with a Prez & VPrez from opposing parties.

If I may interject, Dr. Ben Carson is on a mission. I believe it would be much more important to leave him out of this and let him continue his work. I believe he is following a path laid out by God. No accomplishments in the government arena could ever equal the joy and peace that his current work provides. I believe that even if he was offered the position, he would say no. Trump knows this as well.

Now, if we really wanted to liven up DC, we should encourage President Trump to pick Laura Loomer. There would be a massive amount of politician’s heads exploding.

“I’m just telling you what the realities are.”

In politics, perception, rather than principle, is reality. If race pandering, as a pathway to success, is your perception, then that is your reality.

But that doesn’t make it correct, and that is counter to national survival.

We had a black president for eight years, and the racism industry has only gotten more venomous.

Did I say anything about making it correct? How do you think the United States ended with a Democrat president from a Confederate state five days after the end of the Civil War? History is your friend. Acquaint yourself with it.

There has a been a very poor track record of Senators as POTUS or VEEP:

Hillary
Hussein
Biden
Harris

We are hiring an EXECUTIVE!

I know that. But some folks have not figured out that people can relocate to another state.

Trumps legal residence is Mar-a-Lago in Florida.

I think that nobody really knows who Trump will pick. Each day we have lots of speculation.

You can’t in the middle of a campaign. Talk about trying to skirt the law! Bad look especially with the Biden crap.

“How do you think the United States ended with a Democrat president from a Confederate state five days after the end of the Civil War? History is your friend. Acquaint yourself with it.”

I suggest that you make an effort to acquaint yourself with logic. That sentence has nothing to do with race pandering, or what I posted.

You can try to veer off down some tangent completely unassociated from my comments if you’d like but this is the last I’ll respond to it. Again, JFK, a New England liberal chose a Dixiecrat racist he despised as VP to BALANCE the TICKET and win just as Trump will use his VP to balance the ticket. It sucks but that’s American politics.

Your JFK comment is true—and LBJ stole Texas for him—no doubt about it.

Of course LBJ got a little big for his britches and decided that he was not happy with being number two—and had the cojones to actually do something about it...

Be careful what you wish for....

This is Roger Stone’s best book imho:

Trump doesn’t have a home in Florida. He can change his residence with a call to his lawyers.
