I hadn’t heard either of those, thanks.
Surprised I hadn’t heard the Cash song.

Tom Rush was SO fantastic back in the late 60s and 70s. “No Regrets” is a great song. I always liked the “Circle Game” about the journey through life, too.

Regarding “I’m Not in Love” not being a breakup song. I started to agree with you but then if you think about it this poor man’s life has been thrown into despair by the loss of the woman he indirectly and grudgingly now admits to loving. By protesting too much.
If they hadn’t been together and she hadn’t become the memory who brings him to tears then he wouldn’t care so much.
Really artful and quality song. Poetic.

Saddest.....
I think maybe By the Time I Get to Phoenix is saddest because that poor woman doesn’t know he’s gone and she’ll find out as her normal day turns into the grief filled disaster one he knows is coming to her later.
Good Glen Campbell one.

Hi, Fatima...“Gentle On My Mind” written by John Hartford. Famously sung in 1968 by Glen Campbell on his album of the same name. This song won four Grammy awards for Campbell and Hartford. Inspiration for the song, according to Hartford, came from the film, Doctor Zhivago.
It's about a skunk who won't commit and leaves multiple women. Pretty lyrics, great tune, excellent singing and musicianship.
Here's a Johnny Cash version which is also good: Gentle on My Mind.

I met John Hartford when he was visiting radio stations pushing "Gentle on My Mind." We hit it off.
Four years later he came by Philly, and we had lunch along with a reporter from the "Philadelphia Inquirer." I schooled the reporter on other songs Hartford had written, such as "California Earthquake." John said, "Don't make light of 'Gentle.' It bought me a whole slew of apartment buildings in L.A."

The Cole Porter song::
“It was just one of those things”
A carefree way to dump someone no matter how much it hurts.
I have a good idea this is the best way to accept changes in LIFE.
