Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis was saved from public scrutiny at the last minute after a Board of Ethics meeting was canceled the morning of the scheduled event. Thursday's special meeting was initially scheduled to hear two complaints brought against Willis.

The ethics board was expected to discuss two complaints brought by two Fulton County residents, Gregory Mantell and Steven Kramer, at 10 a.m. The meeting was open to the public at the Fulton County Government Center.

(Newsweek seems to be keeping up with Fani's follies lately...)

see also the Georgia Governor's Code of Ethics for state employees which now seems to be the operative code of ethics for Fani (standard disclaimer)

Because it would expose corruption. And possibly more.

I don’t see any “elected” officials in that list and I’m guessing THAT is the rub in Georgia.

They issued a statement to the effect that, from the Fulton County Board of Ethics perspective, the Fulton County DA position is not a Fulton County position, but a state position, the office being a part of the Georgia state judiciary branch of Georgia state government. Therefore (according to the Fulton County ethics board), the Fulton County ethics board lacks jurisdiction over the Fulton County DA position to review/reprimand/remove the Fulton County DA for malfeasance.

Maybe they canceled because they had heard enough proof for justice, for throwing the crooked bastards in jail. Okay, sarcasm off now.

The boyfriend of Kemp’s daughter had his car all blown up. Unfortunately, the boyfriend was inside the car at the time.

If there was ANY justice in Georgia, the reason it was cancelled is because the judge notified the ethics board that he has decided to:

Remove Fani and the DA's office from the case.
Refer Fani and Wade to the State Bar to have their licenses revoked.
Turn her testimony over to the State DA for presecution of perjury.
Notify the FEC of probable campaign fund misappropriation.
Refer her to the IRS for unreported income.

But since the judge now has an opponent in the upcoming election, that can't be it, so...

...it must be more corruption.

Are you suggesting that something fishy is taking place?

Oh, that can't be!

> “There is no controlling legal authority.”

i hear that.

an issue might be that the georgia judiciary has its own ethics board, which however seems focused on judges (not DAs).

sooo, the wiggle room for fani might be that (analogous to the federal level) georgia state is comprised of three branches of government, executive, legislative, and judiciary, and each branch is meant to have have checks and balances over the other, but not absolute power over each other.
