US-Made Tanks STEAMROLLED by Russian Offensive in Donbas

Russian offensive continues beyond Avdiivka. Ukrainian 47th Mechanized Brigade sends in M2A2 Bradleys and M1A1 Abrams to halt enemy progression. Ukraine transfers more and more reinforcements into that sector to prevent a major breakthrough, and in order to buy time to build more fortifications.

Well, so much for the latest “Wunderwaffe” that the Zelensky was depending upon while he awaits ADDITIONAL TENS UPON TENS OF BILLIONS OF AMERICAN TAXPAYER DOLLARS TO BE ALLOCATED FOR HIM.

Weapons systems are only as good as the operators. Regardless of how advanced they are.

No wonder Nuland stepped down.

... to prevent a major breakthrough, and in order to buy time to build more fortifications.

Translation: Stall off the inevitable collapse until they can get another $60 billion from us. If things are going so great with a possibility of victory, then why did Vicky Nulland just announce her resignation?

Modern anti-tank weapons are very effective, but they need to be securely placed where needed.

There is much to be said about mobile warfare. But Patton was a bit off the mark there. For example, the Maginot Line was much too strong to be taken directly. So the German tanks had to go around it.

Back in the 1930s there was some talk in Paris of extending the Maginot Line all the way to the coast. Cost was an issue. And so was the perception that it would mean abandoning Belgium. So no extension.

It does make for an interesting “What if?”

No, they do not.

A very old version of a US tanks stripped of their depleted uranium armor, with UKR crew, new to the tank and tactics, hits mine and dies. Surprise? No.

You’re right. But I think Patton was referring to staying/being on the defensive. He should have been more clear on that.

Which is why the DEI distractions in the military are so dangerous. Competency is more important than inclusivity on the battlefield. If you want to win.

Yeah, something's going on.

Queen Victoria is only 62 years old.

Modern ATGMs mostly don’t need emplacement unless they’re heavy ATGM. Those units (heavy ATGM) take about as much time to set up as a WW2 60mm mortar - less than a minute - and can be torn down even faster.

Nobody uses antitank *guns* any more if they have a choice, and artillery now literally only operates in direct fire antitank if they get surprised and cornered.

NATO operators including the US working these systems?

I fired an anti-tank weapon at ITR in 1962.

Of course hardware changes over the times.
