Idaho’s attempt to execute death row prisoner Thomas Creech, 73, was halted an hour into his scheduled lethal injection after prison officials were unable to establish a vein to insert an IV, according to the Idaho prison system.
Creech’s attempted execution began at 10 a.m. and was called off at 10:58 a.m., media witnesses said. Creech’s death warrant expires just before midnight Wednesday, and it would be allowed to lapse, said Josh Tewalt, director of Idaho Department of Correction.
“At approximately 11 a.m., Director Tewalt, after consulting with the medical team leader, determined that the medical team could not establish an IV line, rendering the execution unable to proceed,” the department said in an email. “Mr. Creech will be returned to his cell and witnesses will be escorted out of the facility. As a result, the death warrant will expire. The state will consider next steps.”
Gov. Brad Little, who previously pledged that he would not intervene to stop Creech’s execution, said IDOC made the right call.

Give him something to drink.
So - just shoot him in the head.
We use a cute little drill to drill into the bone right below the knee. It’s a quick way to get a large bore IV when there aren’t any veins available.
Why is there a expiration date on a Death Warrant?
With or without Versed?
Fentanyl is killing people left and right and it can’t be used for an execution?
Or, as in the good old days
"Hang him from the neck until dead"
Freferably with rusty piano wire.
lmao
Seerisusly though - we were hanging people by the neck until they were dead. Literally choking them out in PUBLIC, yet it wasn’t considered “cruel and unusual” at all, even by those who wrote the actual original “cruel and unusual” text.
That guy that they recently executed with the nitrogen? Then held his breath and squirmed around to make it look so awful? Several years previously he was supposed to be executed via lethal injection.
He went on a starvation diet and restricted his fluid intake beforehand. They couldn’t find a vein so he got to live a little while longer.
He had been sitting in prison for 50 years. If nothing else he has made a good living for all the lawyers involved at our expense
🤣🤣
Yes we use versed when we put in an ET tube. The IO is normally used on full arrest CPR and they get a tube. I wouldn’t want to be alert and get an IO....
A bullet works.
Its still an injection, right?
Thing is, they could have done that. Idaho approved that method of execution last year.
When in doubt .9mm will open a vein. 😏
