“Tom, I’ll start with you,” began Mika Brzezinski. “Why are rural white voters a threat to democracy at this point?”
Fastball delivered, University of Maryland professor and co-author of just-released White Rural Rage: The Threat To American Democracy Tom Schaller took a swing. He and Mika first complained rural voters should be supporting Joe Biden, given his roots — you’d have to be pretty high to call Scranton “rural,” but whatever — then Schaller read off small town America’s charge sheet: rural whites, he said, are the most “racist,” “xenophobic,” “anti-immigrant and anti-gay,” “conspiracist,” “anti-democratic,” they “don’t believe in an independent press or free speech,” and are “most likely to accept or excuse violence,” for starters.
White Rural Rage, which I made the mistake of reading, is a vicious manifesto in the anti-populist tradition nailed by Thomas Frank in The People, No. When rural voters in the late 1800s defied New York banking interests and demanded currency reform to allow farmers an escape from one of the original “rigged games” in finance, relentless propaganda ensued. Rural populists were depicted as dirty, bigoted, ignorant. They refused expert wisdom, represented a “frantic challenge against every feature of our civilization,” and waged a “shameful insurrection against law and national honesty.” A populist caricature in Judge magazine showed a violent, destructive idiot, a real-life Lennie from still-unwritten Of Mice and Men, .....

Nobel-winning columnist Paul Krugman of the New York Times spent the last year telling “ignorant” Middle America its negative feelings about the economy are “demonstrably false,” because despite what their bank accounts or home evaluations might say, “Bidenomics is still working very well.” When White Rural Rage came out this week he rushed to review it, the intransigent refusal of yokels to accept his wisdom being his favored current hobby horse.

Early life…
“amazing benefits of Bidenomics!”
The NASDAQ hit an all-time high I believe.
Along with prices of groceries, fuel, textiles and shelter going up.
And San Francisco.
so then...is Krugman saying that some animals are better than other animals? are city animals REALLY better than country animals? do city animals REALLY have more voting rights than country animals? the deeper question is what are YOU going to do about it?
Perhaps they could be given 3/5ths of a vote? Yes?
Well said! Im keeping that!
Thanks for cutting to the bottom line. The sooner we all realize the World Elite wants to kills kill us, the sooner we rise up and see to our survival.
“ridicule and derision are their tools for they are afraid that the truth of their weakness will become Apparent”
Everything that the left says is nothing more than a collection of Buzz words and phrases read off the talking points paper they receive each day.
Our county (central Ohio) has no 4 lane highways, I think I count as ‘white’ (blonde hair, blue eyes) and rural. I get enraged at the fact the ‘elites’ think we’re stupid.
Country Boy Can Survive
RE: Has Krugman ever told the truth?
Yes.
Once.
When he said “I am a liar.”
They tried their foolishness in my neck of the woods in Texas. They showed up at a local Walmart to start trouble and came face to face with bikers, veterans and rather angry locals all heavily armed.
They took one look at that and went right back the way they came.
They tried their foolishness in another town and got chased off.
Communists have to get rid of the Christians one way or the other.
Watch out for those white rural voters...next thing you know, they’ll be gathering on Fridays for a fish fry.
“democracy”, I don’t think that word means what they think it means.
It goes to show you how worthless the Nobel Prize is. Krugman actually won one for economics!
When you can’t defend your positions against your opponents then resort to name calling and personal attacks instead. That’s what the left has been reduced to.
If there isn’t any rage, there needs to be, and it’s a tragedy it wasn’t stoked a long time ago. It might have spared us from a lot of trouble. One thing that causes rage in me is authoritarian pukes such as Krugman who claim that somehow we are disloyal when all we might be a threat to are their Orwellian definition of “democracy” and the cushy gigs and privileges of the degenerate ruling class that is bringing ruin upon OUR country . To hell with their “democracy” and to hell with them.
Those who continue to use their bully pulpit to hammer on supposed “white rage” will shortly FAFO the real meaning behind those words when the “rage” is focused on them.
