Donald Trump said Thursday during a visit to the Texas-Mexico border that Gov. Greg Abbott is “absolutely” on his short list of potential vice presidential candidates for his 2024 run.
During a joint interview with Abbott on Fox News, the former president was asked by host Sean Hannity whether Abbott was under consideration for the position. Trump responded that Abbott is “a spectacular man” and he was honored when Abbott endorsed him for president last year.
“And he’s done a great job,” Trump said. “Yeah, certainly he would be somebody that I would very much consider.”
“So he’s on the list?” Hannity said.
“Absolutely, he is,” Trump replied, as Abbott looked on.

I’d vote for Ries Ling Late Harvest, or Pin O. Noir.
😀
how long is the short list? I’ve read of 6 or more names supposedly on the short list.
I would leave Abbott in place for governor, as he has his hands full with his current job. But if Abbott is nominated and elected VP, then the governorship would pass to Dan Patrick!!!!
Sadly the Senate would never confirm Paxton as national
AG.
Abbott did not figure out that he had state options on enforcement of the border until late 2023. There may have been little public support had he tried to place the razor wire earlier.
My favorite is Byron Donalds, but he doesn’t have enough experience, just a second termer in the House, I believe.
Thanks-I’ve read that gov Abbott is sort of selective about what he takes fed aid for as well-there is apparently a method to that-but he is an attorney, I’m sure he has legal reasons...
I don’t know if you were born here, or how many generations before you were Texans-but a lot of Native Texans-of any ethnic group-believe that secession/separation has been simmering for nearly 200 years in the depths-just the right series of incidents can bring it to the surface with little or no warning, but those things probably vary somewhat from year to year. I’m one of those Tejanos who would not be upset at all to see that happen if the path of the US does not change next year-in fact, I’ll be delighted and assist in any way I can...
I really don’t believe Texas will secede. Nor any other state. The whole nation is too engrossed into Fedzilla.
But this is not to say there will not be rioting and BLMing in the cities. A Civil War that will not be state vs. state but cities vs. rural.
With the cities being the losers.
No. Abbott is only Conservative when it suits his needs.
Paul Masson for Sec Agri
Could be-I’ve read and been told for years that Texas and a few other states have state-owned financial and other cards that can’t be played by any fed entity-supposedly had these cards-whatever they are-since the mid-1800’s or so. Maybe like deadman switches of some kind-if it is even true...
Either way-secession or limited CW, cities in Texas and some other states will be big losers if they start s***-the rural population of Texas, the other SW, Western and a few southern states is fresh out of tolerance for rioting, burning and other temper tantrums after the hot mess of the last few years...
Johnson for VP:
Sen. Johnson’s Senate Panel On The Vaccines Is The Red Pill We’ve All Been Waiting For

We need Republicans in the elected offices they hold.
Consider Republicans who are NOT holding an elected office.
Well, it’s rough to come up with people as qualified at VP Harris. MS Word Salad commie-lite Harris is a high bar... right? LOL
But I guess Trump can sift though our offerings: Greg Abbott would be great - so would DeSantis and Cruz, and JD Vance and Tim Scott, and Rick Scott and and and ... I mean we have the bench people dream of...
hate to say it, but we aren’t getting a Senate majority. We can pray, hope and wish, but it isn’t happening.
