He is part of the chain of command and is responsible to his superior. I wonder if he ever served in uniform. We sure as hell know that The Big Guy didn’t.

This means that SecDef was not monitoring conditions while Blinken was overseas, and also not involved in the planning of the logistics of the trip beforehand, or we would have found it about this before Blinken left for the Middle East.

That's the part I haven't heard anyone in the media talking about. Yes, Austin or someone on his staff should have informed the White House that he was in the hospital. However, shouldn't Joe Biden or other senior officials in the administration have noticed that nobody had heard from the guy in over a week? Austin is not some low level staffer, he's the Secretary of Defense. In that position, you would presume that he's communicating with the White House, the State Department, the intelligence agencies, and Homeland Security, among others on a daily basis - but nobody noticed he was missing.
It’s not comforting having totally inept leadership at the highest levels of our military and agencies.

Apparently Lloyd Austin cannot do the honorable thing and simply resign from the position of Secretary of Defense. Thee may still be consequences for being negligent of his duties as Secretary of Defenses, but there is a long time-honored precedent.
I rather despise that this bunch of Nazis are so half-hearted. A serious Democrat Socialist regime would have had him executed by now.
