Katie Porter says Georgia killing ‘shouldn’t shape our overall immigration policy’
WGN Radio 720 ^ | Sarah Fortinsky

California Democrat State Representative Katie Porter (who is running for the Senate Seat in California) said this on Monday 2/26/2024 about the murder of a nursing student Laken Riley who had her skull smashed in by a criminal illegal invader:

"...Rep. Katie Porter (D-Calif.) said Monday the “horrible” killing of a nursing student on the University of Georgia campus should not inform the entirety of U.S. immigration policy.

“I think whenever we’re dealing with violent crime, there is a sense of outrage, of sadness and loss,” Porter, who’s running for Senate in California, said during an interview on CNN’s “Erin Burnett OutFront.”

“But I think the important thing to focus on is any one instance shouldn’t shape our overall immigration policy, which has so many different facets, including economic choices about what workers to allow and how to create prosperity in America...” she added.

I heard Dan Bongino mention this in context of 2nd Amendment Rights, when he correctly observed that this is a case of zero consistency on their part, because when a shooting occurs, they rush to remove the right of law abiding citizens to defend themselves.

I thought this was a fine example to bring up for comparison.

Funny how she’s forgetting the left’s most powerful gaslighting weapon, guilt by association.

I’ll bet if it was her daughter murdered by an illegal amigo she would sing a different tune.

Then by that same logic, Katie, we shouldn’t let a school shooting shape our overall Second Amendment policy.

She’s right; one crime shouldn’t shape immigration policy. But it isn’t just one crime, it’s virtually a nation-wide crime wave. Small town Cape Girardeau, MO had a fatal stubbing the other day. Don’t know if the Honduran murderer or his victim were here legally or not, but I have to ask why they were here at all.

Go back to 1962 when Thomas J. Dodd and Emanuel Celler called for the registration of handguns only! “Rifles will not be affected!” In 1964 they called for the registration of ALL firearms.

I remember it well. Gun problems were all solved in 1968. the democrats said so!

I thought all that “Lawlessness and Chaos” was done away with by the Democrats back in 1968!

“Today we begin to disarm the criminal and the careless and the insane. All of our people who are deeply concerned in this country about law and order should hail this day.”-— Lyndon Johnson signing the 1968 gun control act into law.

And Thomas J. Dodd, who wrote the 1968 gun control act using the 1938 Nazi weapons law as a pattern...

“No one can predict how many lives will be spared because of this bill, but, if the bloody record of our yesterdays is any measure, millions of future Americans will live to enjoy the promise of many peaceful tomorrows.

I am grateful to have had the opportunity to play a part in this great moment in our time.”— Thomas J. Dodd on passage of the 1968 Gun control act.

A country that I visit regularly asks this question on the entry form:

Have you ever been convicted of any crime, no matter how minor and even outside Japan?

If yes, then detail specifics including date(s) and circumstance(s).

If you lie on this question, you can be denied entry and/or be subject to immediate deportation.

Yeah, they enforce it, too. One of the Beatles (Ringo Starr, as I recall) had a tiny amount of weed in his carry on luggage and "forgot" to declare it. He was barred for life, after a couple of days in a detention cell while his case was processed and a flight seat became available.

Apparently for Rep. Porter letting Mexican cartels shape our overall immigration policy is preferable.

The killing of George Floyd should not shape any overall policies in the US. She agrees, right?

***What ‘s a few brutal murders here and there...***

Reminds me of when Bobby Kennedy was murdered by a Palestinian Immigrant back in 1968. It sure caused a panic and hysteria in the US at that time. American citizens lost some rights as a result, and it did not affect crime one bit.

No, there is no amount of murder or degradation of our culture or economic hardship for the poor and middle class or loss of heritage or abuse of children or rape of women or shift in demographics....that should ever have any effect on “shaping our overall immigration policy”.

The only elements that should shape our immigration policy are GDP and corporate profits. Just ask 75% of the elected Republicans. They’ll tell you the same thing.

There are billions of people wanting to live a better life.

We need to make their countries better and not degrade ours.

Immigration to the USA and UK is not a possible solution for the vast majority of those billions.

California with its homeless problem is the ‘canary in the coal mine’.

Casting a natural born American onto the streets and sidewalks to replace that citizen with someone willing to work for a $1 or $2 less per hour until that someone realizes that $1 to $2 is needed will cause misery for all eventually. Ask the rich of Rio or San Paulo.
